TERMS OF REFERENCE

THAI TRANSLATOR FOR THE REPORT ON THE ROUTE OF MIGRATION FROM MYANMAR AND CAMBODIA TO THAILAND

  1. Project Background

Plan International (Plan) is implementing a four-year project, Fostering Accountability in Recruitment for Fishery Workers (FAIR Fish), to reduce forced labor and human trafficking (FL/HT) in the recruitment of women and men in the seafood processing sector in Thailand to support the United States Department of Labor (DOL) Bureau of International Labor Affairs’ (ILAB) Office of Child Labor, Forced Labor and Human Trafficking (OCFT). To increase understanding of forced labor and human trafficking in the recruitment of workers among relevant stakeholders, the project conducted produced a report on the route of migration from Myanmar and Cambodia to Thailand. The report covers chapters on profiles of migrant workers, recruitment procedures, migration routes, and potential risks to forced labor and human trafficking.

 

  1. Task Requirements

 

    1. Translate the report on the route of migration from Myanmar and Cambodia to Thailand from English into Thai. The translation will be around 43 A4 pages.  

 

    1. Revise the translation work as per Plan International’s comments to ensure that the translation is accurate and consistent.

 

  1. Deliverables

The translator is required to submit the following deliverables in MS Word and PDF files, using Cordia New font at size of 16 points to Plan International as follows:

    1. Translation work for the first part of the report (approximately 17 pages) including Table of Contents, Table of Boxes, Figures and Tables, Acronyms, Introduction, and Myanmar chapter (approximately 17 pages) to be submitted to Plan International by 15 days after the English report is sent to the translator around early December 2019

 

    1. Revised translation work of the first part of the report to be submitted to Plan International by 7 days after Plan International provides comments

 

    1. Translation work for the second part of the report (approximately 26 pages), including Cambodia chapter, potential risks related to forced labor and human trafficking, and conclusion to be submitted to Plan International by 15 days after Plan International approves the first part of the translation work

 

    1. Revised translation work of the second part of the report to be submitted to Plan International by 7 days after Plan International provides comments on                                     the translation work
  1. Qualifications and Experience

4.1 At least a Bachelor’s degree

4.2 Prior experience in the translation of documents from English into Thai, especially issues related to migration of Myanmar and Cambodian workers

  1. Payment and Payment Schedule

Fees will be paid upon the satisfactory completion of the deliverables as previously specified in Item no. 3. 

 

  1. How to apply

 

  • Submit

1) CV in English,

2) 1-2 samples of the previous translation work

3) a quotation indicating the translation rate in Thai baht per English word in the original document
