We are currently seeking for a Thai national consultant based in Bangkok for the position of Field Operation Specialist to support the research team for the implementation and monitoring of the study aimed to explore the uptake of HIV oral fluid testing among MSM and transgender women in Thailand, managed by the LINKAGES Thailand

Project Description

LINKAGES is a USAID-funded project managed by FHI 360 aimed at accelerating the Thai HIV/AIDS response to recruit, reach, test, treat and retain populations in HIV prevention, care, and treatment services. The project focuses primarily on MSM and transgender (TG) women but is slated to expand to serve female sex workers (FSW) and people who inject drugs (PWID). LINKAGES Thailand in collaboration with the Thai Ministry of Public Health, USAID Regional Development Mission for Asia (RDMA) and Thai Red Cross, is also preparing a research study aimed to explore HIV oral fluid testing, including self-testing, among MSM and transgender women in 3 provinces: Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Chonburi (Pattaya). The study will be implemented in collaboration with MSM and transgender women community based organizations (CBOs) located in these provinces (7 study sites). A total of 1,671 participants will be enrolled in this study.

Ethical clearance from Institutional Review Board and approval from the Thai Food and Drug Administration (FDA) are expected to be secured by January 2017 and the study launched by February-March 2017. The field operation specialist will be hired by LINKAGES Thailand as a consultant and will work closely with the LINKAGES Thailand study team and CBOs involved in the study. Under the supervision of the project leader, the selected candidate is expected to work a maximum of 129 days during the period of February to September 2017 to accomplish the following key activities:

  1. Participate to the sites preparation and provide recommendations for site improvement before launching the study
  2. Provide support for the preparation of the study materials and equipment
  3. Participate/contribute to the training courses planned for the research team in the three provinces
  4. Collaborate with LINKAGES Thailand biostatistician to monitor/access data collected from the website (daily task) and case report forms (CRFs) entered in ACCESS at each research site.
  5. Notify study site investigators (7 study site investigators) the follow-up of new HIV positive cases, the initiation of follow-up procedures to monitor (1) the access to HTC and CST services, when needed, and (2) adverse events
  6. Provide regular follow-up with study site investigators for the completeness of study forms such as recruitment/enrollment log sheets and the data entry of CRFs in the ACCESS database
  7. Conduct with the research team regular and extraordinary supervision visit in each study site.
  8. Communicate regularly with study site investigators to follow-up the progress of the implementation of the recommendations done during the supervision visit and provide regular feedback to the study team
  9. Report to the project leader and the research assistant any minor or serious issues identified during the implementation of the study including complain(s) from participants

 

Requirements

- Thai national based in Bangkok

- At least a master degree in social sciences, public health or other related field

- Experience of at least 5 years in health promotion, sexual reproductive health, HIV, or LGBT field

- Demonstrate good understanding in English (written and verbal)

- Able to travel (up to 50% of the total time) to Chiang Mai and Pattaya to accomplish key activities implemented at the study sites in these provinces

- Effective organizational skills and excellent interpersonal and team building skills

- Demonstrate sound work ethics and cultural sensitivity; and being honest, trustworthy, respectful and flexible

- Computer skills: Microsoft office
