Mekong Institute (MI) is an intergovernmental organization owned and operated by the six Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS) countries it serves, with a mission to provide capacity development services and products that enhance regional development, cooperation and integration. To respond to changes and evolving needs in the GMS, MI currently prioritizes the regional integration of Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam workforces for more equitable and inclusive economic growth. Further, MI is expanding its traditional portfolio to position itself as a GMS-based knowledge-center of excellence with increased institutional capacity for policy research and other services related to economic integration and development disparities.
Mekong Institute is operating on a non-profit basis, the international staffs of the Institute are exempted from all direct taxation on salaries and emoluments paid by the Institute.
Project on “Enhancing Competitiveness of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in the Southern Economic Corridor (SEC) of the Mekong Sub-region”
The project aims to enhance competitiveness of Small and Medium-sized enterprises to conduct cross border trade and investment and integrate into cross-border industrial clusters, regional and global value chain. The project duration is of two years duration (January 2016 to December 2017) and will be implemented in 19 provinces along the SEC in Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam.
Senior Project Coordinator
We are seeking a Senior Project Coordinator for SEC Project, Trade and Investment Facilitation (TIF) Department under the general direction of the Director of TIF. The position is based at the Mekong Institute, located on Khon Kaen University campus, Northeast Thailand. Khon Kaen, a growing city, with all kind of facilities and services like hospitals with international standards, and international schools. Khon Kaen is the commerce and political center of Northeastern Thailand and an important gateway to other GMS countries.
A Senior Project Coordinator is responsible for planning and coordinating the implementation of his/her assigned project activities in accordance with the project scope, budget and performance targets. This position requires regular travel in the Southern Economic Corridors which encompasses 4 Mekong countries in Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam.
Coordinate the implementation of project activities
Manage field office operation and control assigned project budget
Supervise and provide technical and administrative support to project staff
Facilitate and provide administrative support to MI mission in the field, including associate researchers and collaborating partners.
Establish and maintain good relationship with concerned government officials and local partners.
With technical assistance of subject matter experts, make continuous improvement of capacity building events materials in the assigned project;
Design and coordinate program delivery specifications to ensure that high quality capacity building contents and methodologies are delivered together with qualified resource persons (session planning, resource persons, field visits sites, facilitators, on-line training packages, etc.)
In coordination with M&E officer, design evaluation form, survey questionnaire and administer monitoring and evaluation activities in the field.
In coordination with Information and Knowledge Management Program, setting up and maintain on-line communication and and record system.
Make project completion report, evaluation report and post training follow up activities in accordance with MI standard and/or as required by development partners.
Other related tasks as assigned by the Director, Trade and Investment Facilitation or MI Executive Director
Required qualifications, skills and experience
Master Degree in Business, Economics or trade
At least five years working experiences in at least one of the following areas:
SME Development and Promotion
Local/regional Economic Development
Trade facilitation/trade development
Product Value Chains
Fluency in English
Can work in MI and willing to travel in the southern economic corridor (SEC)
Preference will be given to nationals from the GMS countries (Cambodia, China, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam) and Japan.
