  1. Background

WWF Thailand is one of the world’s leading non-governmental organizations in conservation, wildlife and the environment. WWF-Thailand implements a strategy that harnesses the strengths of the WWF network in a shared vision, focusing on six major goals - water, wildlife, the ocean, climate and energy, forests, and food – and three key drivers of environmental problems – markets, finance and governance. In support of this strategy WWF-Thailand aims to build stronger partnerships with government, business, civil society and individuals. With an expanding program in Thailand, we are seeking a Project Accountant to help us achieve our new ambitious goals, and build a future where people live in harmony with nature. The Project Accountant will support the Finance Department’s efforts in maintaining high standards of accounting and financial governance. He/she will work closely with Program staff as well as the Finance team.

  1. Major Duties and Responsibilities

•     Leads project and programme financial planning, including development of proposals, budgeting, development and drafting of contracts, and monitoring contractual compliance and progress, all in accordance with WWF and Donors’ policies and procedures.

•     Manages the operational and financial administration of projects and programmes. Identifies and communicates major funding gaps and recommends best working solutions.

•     Ensures all issued agreements and payments are processed in a timely manner in accordance with policies and procedures.

•     Ensures the implementation of WWF standards and best practices.

•     Enters revenue, expenditure and intercompany transactions in Oracle including any adjustments necessary.

•     Responsible for contract management

•     Prepares and reviews financial reports to management and donors, ensuring that expenditure is according to approved contractual budgets and that donor requirements are met.

•     Ensures timely financial donor reports and ensure that they are of good quality.

•     Monitors and reconciles funding awards and bank accounts as required.

•     Provides liaison between programmes and donors as and when required.

•     Assists in audit of project/programmes as required.

•     Ensures adequate cost recovery from restricted funding.

•     Visits field offices to review financial management of projects, train field staff and participate in Finance workshops if required.

•     Review third party contracts to ensure the compliance with all contract standards and procedures of the organization including local statutory and legal requirements. In addition, working closely with project managers, provide input to grantee due diligence and analysis prior to awarding grants to third parties or working partners.       

•     Support both internal and external audits.

•     Performs other appropriate duties upon request of the Manager, Sr.Project Finance.

  1. Required Qualifications       
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or in relevant fields.  
  • 5 years in project finance and/or accounting experience in either NGOs or development agencies
  • Experienced in financial reporting, accounting standard knowledge and budget Management
  • Oracle system and advance knowledge in Microsoft Excel such as Function, Pivot table etc.

  • Project Manager and Finance Team: Assist in analyzing financial data and contribute to project proposal and budget planning
  • WWF GM Hub: Liaise with GM Hub on transboundary projects.

  • Auditors: Facilitate and support project audits
  • Donors: Prepare, review donors financial reports including addressing issues raised by donors on financial related matters
  • Third Parties/Grantees: Ensure completeness and accuracy of financial reports including improved financial management capacities.
