Position:  Learning & Development Advisor, Gender Initiatives

Assignment duration: 1 Year Contract with possibility for extension.

Duty station: Bangkok

 

JOB BACKGROUND:

The purpose of this role is to contribute to building individual, country office and regional capability and knowledge around gender and girls’ rights to meet current strategic requirements, including our global objective to be a leader in the global movement for girls.

 

TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Support offices across Asia to have the tools, skills and capacities required to advance equality principles in the design, implementation and monitoring of gender transformative projects.
  • Support offices across Asia in capacity/ skills assessments related to gender transformative leadership, program and influencing.
  • Help ensure the consistent use of Plan’s Gender Equality Self-Assessment Process across the Regional Office (RO) and COs and disseminating the learnings associated on the implementation of gender actions plans/initiatives with regional and global counterparts.
  • Support integrated learning and development opportunities in collaboration with country and regional technical leads.
  • Ensure knowledge management of learning and development outcomes associated with activities led or supported by technical leads and others.
  • Support upskilling and action learning on gender transformative programming, influencing, and leadership as required
  • Support upskilling and action learning on youth advocacy and mobilization as needed
  • Recommend suitable learning options to meet country, team and/or individual requirements, considering appropriate delivery channels.
  • As part of the Gender Equality and Inclusion team and the wider regional office team, support Country Management Teams (CMTs) to ensure that Transformation and Country Strategic Plan processes include capacity strengthening elements around gender and movement building.
  • Together with HROD partner, monitor and review learning and development plan progress, providing CMT with regular updates and continually seek ways to improve activities to best meet requirements.
  • Ensure that regional transformation initiatives have a strong learning and development component that is aligned with the organizations’ global strategy.
  • Ensure relevant initiatives are appropriately designed and implemented in order to facilitate sustainable capability strengthening and that learnings are shared with global and regional counterparts.
  • Ensure the regional transformation initiatives include learning and development as part of their assessment frameworks and that outcomes are being reported to the Regional Leadership Team along with other element of the initiatives.
  • Ensures that Plan International’s global policies for Child Protection (CPP) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI) are fully embedded in accordance with the principles and requirements of the policy including relevant Implementation Standards and Guidelines as applicable to their area of responsibility. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring staff and associates are aware of and understand their responsibilities under these policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), their relevance to their area of work, and that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.

 

ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

 

Qualifications and experience

 

  • Bachelor degree in relations, development, Gender or related fields
  • 1-2 experience in gender theory and experience in ensuring gender is integrated into learning and development initiatives;
  • Experience working in learning and development initiatives;
  • Strong ability to communicate theoretical concepts on gender in simple terms and to apply these to practical solutions to promote gender equality;
  • Facilitation skills – adult education
  • Consultative skills
  • Well organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Developed relationship management skills, including the ability to manage and influence diverse and stakeholder group
  • Excellent command of English, both speaking and writing.
