Project Officer, Thailand Programme (Part-time)
IUCN, International Union for Conservation of Nature, is seeking a qualified individual to join our Thailand Country Programme.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the guidance of the Head of Office, Thailand Programme and Head of Indo-Burma Group and in close collaboration with technical staff, Members, IUCN Commissions and other partners, the Project Officer will lead the implementation of “Combatting Illegal Wildlife Trade, focusing on Ivory, Rhino Horn, Tiger and Pangolin in Thailand (IWT)” project funded by UNDP-GEF6.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
Project implementation:
• Ensure effectiveness of IWT project implementation, including financial management, reporting, monitoring and evaluation, coordination with project partners, DNP and UNDP
• Provide technical supports and liaise between the Technical Advisory Committee, DNP and UNDP on the legal frameworks and legislations related to illegal wildlife trade, protected area management, species conservation and natural resources management.
• Organize workshops, meeting and training sessions as identified in the work plan
• Facilitate the meetings and technical discussion among different stakeholders on illegal wildlife trade
• Take a lead on logistics and administrative supports needed for the completion of project activities
• Ensure project visibility among different stakeholders and government
Programme administration and reporting:
• In close collaboration with other IUCN Thailand programme members, assist the Head of Office with the collation and submission of the project technical report.
• Contribute to information sharing, lessons learning and documentation of project and Thailand programme experiences.
Networking, relationship building and communications:
• Lead the development of in-house networks of thematic expertise which draw upon both regional and national level.
• Maintain regular contacts with IUCN Members, Commission members and partners, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment especially the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources, Department of National Park, Wildlife and Plant Conservation and Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning, with a view to building relationships and exploring new areas of cooperation for the IUCN programme in general and IUCN Thailand in particular.
REQUIREMENTS
• At least Bachelor’s degree in natural resources and environmental management, environmental studies, development studies, social sciences, and/or related fields
• At least 5 years of professional experience working in Biodiversity Monitoring and Evaluation
• Strong facilitation, operation, planning skills.
• Strong coordination and communication skill.
• Experienced in working with government institutions and communities
• Able to work collaboratively as a team
• Good command of written and spoken English is essential
