Title: Consultant: Trainer for the Drowning Prevention Projects in Bangkok
Background
Drowning is the most common cause of child death in Thailand killing around 2,700 children per year. Thailand’s late remarkable economic rise has created new hazards and vulnerabilities for children. A new trend is now emerging in many middle-income countries with increased child deaths from injury and accident.
Save the Children Thailand is leading a child drowning prevention project in Bangkok, funded respectively by FamilyMart. The project aims at enhancing children’s knowledge of drowning prevention and contributing to reduce child injury and death by drowning across Thailand.
Save the Children will run the program in collaboration with Ministry of Education, Ministry of Public Health, the Thai Life Saving Society (TLSS), the Child Safety Promotion and Injury Prevention Research Centre (CSIP) under Ramathibodi Hospital and Thai PBS with overall objective of promoting child drowning prevention through the following methodologies:
The purpose of this consultancy
Save the Children is seeking the consultants who are experience in water safety to deliver survival swimming lessons to 50-75 students from each project’ schools: Surao Sam in, Surao Ban Don, Sawasdee Wittaya, Prathomnonsee and Anuban Phibunwes to reduce the risk of drowning and techniques that they could save their lives
Timeframe & Scope
The consultancy service period for the whole assignment is between July 2019 and February 2021.

Direct report: The Child Health and Safety Programme Coordinator
Location: Bangkok
The role holder is required to carry out the duties in accordance with SCI Health and Safety policies and procedures.
