Conservation Program Manager

Division/Department:   Conservation

Report to:           Country Director

Base Location:   Bangkok

Background and Purposes:

WWF-Thailand can make major contributions to WWF’s regional and global conservation goals. The role of the Conservation Manager is to provide strategic direction for conservation work in Thailand and to harness WWF’s global expertise and resources to do outstanding conservation on the ground in Thailand.

Major Role Responsibilities

  1. Define the strategic direction and implement in accordance with the strategic direction for the conservation program of WWF-Thailand and ensure its alignment with WWF’s Global Goals.
  2. Work closely with the WWF Network and specifically with the PIA Shareholders to secure the resources needed to implement the conservation program. Identify non-WWF funding sources and prepare proposals to secure funds for the conservation program. Development of all proposals must meet mandatory cost recovery
  3. Act as a member of the country management team (CMT) to provide collective opinion and discussion in organization-related issues for the good decision of CMT. Give respect to CMT decision as a good team player in order to build up organization’s unity and stability in accordance to the agreed strategic direction.  
  4. Manage all project managers to develop work plans and budgets to ensure the projects deliver the impacts according to the project goal and meet with donor’s requirements. As well, ensure the project fund is managed in a transparent and accountable manner and meet with organization’s code of conduct and all social compliances.
  5. Provide capacity building to project managers in order to develop their career path. Identify talents to prepare future growth of the organization Supervise project managers in building up their team capacity, career development, and talent acquisition.
  6. Ensure that adequate Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) of each project is performed and that management objective are modified accordingly.
  7. Bridge the conservation goals together with other departments’ objectives (fundraising, communication, advocacy, and campaign, etc) in order to meet the collective achievement of the WWF Thailand l
  8. Develop and maintain a network of contacts to build strategic alliances with the government, other NGOs, international organizations, donors, and other partners in order to promote and implement the conservation strategic plan
  • Qualification:
  • Master's degree in natural resource management, environmental studies, conservation biology, or in relevant fields
  • 7 years leading and managing complex conservation programs. At least three years should be in the Greater Mekong. Previous employment with WWF is an advantage
  • 3 years in managing programs funded by a diversity of sources including governments, aid agencies, and private sector donors
  • 2 years working in cross-cultural environments.
  • Fluent in both Thai and English
  • Must knowledge of principles of conservation
  • Skill in Proposal development, Project management and Monitor & evaluation of project
