Job Description

 

POSITION TITLE:  Field Supervisor

COUNTRY PROGRAM:  Thailand  

RESPONSIBLE TO:  Provincial Coordinator

STATUS:  Full time

SUPERVISORY CAPACITY:  Migrant Liaison Officer (MLO) and Migrant Health Volunteers (MHVs)

 

This position is based in Umphang District, Tak province. Committed locals who are humanitarian minded and with good command in migrant languages – Burmese and Karen –are encouraged to apply.

 

 

COUNTRY PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

 This 18-month project entitling “Improving Treatment Adherence and Outcomes among migrant population along Thai-Myanmar border” is funded by Stop TB Partnership to provide TB services to non-Thai migrants residing and/or working along Thai-Myanmar border in Thongphahum district, Kanchanburi province and Umphang district, Tak province with the following objectives:

1). Building a detailed dosing history & reducing loss-to-follow-up

2). Improving motivation for treatment completion

 

This is a highly labor intensive with limited resources project that needs to collaborate very closely with Provincial/District Health Office, District Hospital, community leaders, business owners, volunteers and so on. The core activities include, but not limited to,

i). Apply Near Field Communication technology in TB case management      

ii). Support TB symptoms for confirmatory testing (chest x-ray and sputum test)           

iii). Support TB patients, and their household contacts, during the entire treatment path: diagnosis, treatment, and care and support         

iv). Provide gamification incentives to TB patients who complete treatment and their DOTS partners      

v). Conduct joint supportive supervision visits with health personnel to ensure technical quality of TB case management            vi). Conduct Quarterly feedback to partners (district staffs and hospital) for updates of program implementation

  

 

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION  

The Field Supervisor is responsible for conducting and supervising the day to day project implementation under the direct supervision from Provincial Coordinator, and with the assistance of Migrant Liaison Officer (MLO). The scope of the function includes, but not limited to, collaborating very closely with Provincial/District Health Office, District Hospital, community leaders, community based organizations and migrant networks, supervising the work of MLO and Migrant Health Volunteers (MHVs) per National TB guidelines, organizing capacity building to MHVs and community stakeholders and beneficiaries, and mobilizing community resources for TB awareness and advocacy.

 

 

                                                                                          

 

  1. Supervises MLO and MHV in implementation per National standard of TB case management – case finding, recording, reporting, contact tracing, referral and treatment follow-ups.

 

  1. Coordinates with Provincial/District Health Office, District Hospital, community leaders, community based organizations or networks, and beneficiaries alike         

 

  1. Mobilizes community resources for raising TB awareness and advocacy to stakeholders concerned.

 

  1. Keeps track of TB data in a confidential manner  

 

  1. Consolidates and verifies reports from MLOs in accordance with systems and procedures, and undertakes regular supportive visits to MLOs and MHVs.

 

  1. Assists Finance Admin Assistant in counter checking any financial related docs

 

  1.  Perform any other tasks assigned by Provincial Coordinator/Project Manager

EDUCATION, TECHNICAL SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

 

  1. University graduated and/or diploma certificated

 

  1. Has at least 2 year experience in community organizing and mobilization

 

  1. Has a good understanding of financial and administrative policies

 

  1. Being able to communicate in migrant dialects – Burmese and/or Karen – is an added value

 

  1. Has good level of understanding in and applying Information Technology

 

  1. Has relatively good reporting skills in English

 

 

 

KEY BEHAVIORS & ABILITIES

 

 

  1. Has keen skill in establishing rapport with community leaders, members and local Health officials

 

  1. Has a fervent ability towards talking with community people to make them support and participate in the program

 

  1. Has dedication and loyalty to his/her organization as he/she is also representing the organization and is promoting the goals and mission of the organization.

 

  1. Has ability to deal with TB patients without showing any prejudice towards their illness, nor to their nationality

 

  1. Is able to maintain good working relationship with other staffs in the organization

 

  1. Respects and recognizes organization policies at all times.

 

  1. Shows respect to authority and recognize the hierarchy of decision-making in the organization
