Context:

Under the direct supervision of the Project Officer, the Psychologist will be mainly responsible for provision of psychosocial activities to vulnerable migrants, contributing to Emergency and Post-Crisis Unit’s project “Humanitarian Assistance to Myanmar Muslims and Special At-Risk Groups in Thailand”.

 

 

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

       Particularly, he/she will carry out the following duties:

 

  1. In coordination with the Project Staff, provide psychosocial counselling to Myanmar Muslims and special at-risk groups in Suratthani province.

 

  1. Develop and conduct activities of psychosocial assistance, including art therapy, recreational activities, and informal group discussions, to Myanmar Muslims and special at-risk groups in Suratthani province, in coordination with shelter authorities.

 

  1. In coordination with the Project Staff, deliver capacity building sessions for government officials on psychosocial support to vulnerable migrants.

 

  1. Provide the monthly reports and result of services provided to the beneficiaries, including psychological needs assessment and pre/post psychological evaluation.

 

  1. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

 

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Thai national;
  • University degree or at least one year of work experience in the field of Psychology, Mental Health, or Social Work;
  • Confident user of MS office;
  • High level of integrity, understanding of ethical principles, respect for diversity, ability to work with refugees and migrants from different cultural backgrounds;
  • Team-work oriented with capacity to work with minimal supervision; and
  • Ability and willingness to work in difficult conditions and travel frequently.

Languages

  • Good command of spoken and written Thai and English

 

Delivery of Service

  • Working days will be agreed upon by the Psychologist and the Project Staff by emails and phone calls.

 

 

Other

Any offer made to the candidate in relation to this vacancy notice is subject to funding confirmation.

Appointment will be subject to certification that the candidate is medically fit for appointment and verification of residency, visa and authorizations by the concerned Government, where applicable.

 

Only candidates residing in either the country of the duty station or from a location in a neighbouring country that is within commuting distance of the duty station will be considered. In all cases, a prerequisite for taking up the position is legal residency in the country of the duty station, or in the neighbouring country located within commuting distance, and work permit, as applicable.
