FINANCE OFFICER (temporary)
Location: Based in Chiang Mai
Job Title: Finance Officer (temporary)
Location: SEAOHUN Foundation based in Chiang Mai
Duration: 3 months; applicants to this position are strongly encouraged to apply for a fixed term Finance Office position that will soon be opened.
Start date: Applicant should be available to start no later than 7 February 2018
Report to: Executive Director
Duties and Responsibilities
The Finance Officer will be responsible for the overall processing, recording and summarizing of all accounting transactions and the timely preparation of the financial reports. S/he will undertake the following tasks:
- Process all cash and check transactions, wire transfer payments, advance payments for taxes, social security, provident fund, rent and other expenses, and record the transactions in QuickBooks with proper account codes.
- Ensure that all the payments are made on time.
- Ensure the completeness of supporting documents for each transaction.
- Ensure proper filings of financial related documents in accordance with laws of Thailand.
- Reconcile petty cash and all the financial transactions on a monthly basis.
- Monitor monthly expenditures against budget, perform variance analysis, and recommend adjustments to ensure optimal financial performance.
- Prepare financial reports with required formats by donors partners, and submit the report to the Operations Manager for approval.
- Prepare, process, and clear advance payments for travel.
- Ensure accuracy, completeness and timeliness for all financial reports required by the donors/partners.
- Collect all employees timesheets on the 5th of each month.
- Process the monthly payroll by the 25th of each month.
- Keep all salary related information strictly confidential.
- Perform a regular backup of QuickBooks and all related data.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the Executive Director.
Qualifications and requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance from a recognized college.
- At least two years’ work experience in an accountant role.
- Experience working with government agencies, intergovernmental agencies, academic universities, or NGOs is preferred.
- Experience working with USAID granting requirements and rules and regulations is an asset.
- Proven communication skills, both in written and orally.
- Self-starting, ability to take initiatives and work with minimal supervision are required.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team is necessary.
- Skills in Microsoft Office/Google and email applications and internet navigation are required.
- Experience for using QuickBooks or similar software is required.
- Fluency in English is an asset.
