MAP Foundation has a vacancy for a Field Coordinator in its

Community Health and Empowerment (CHE) Program

MAP Foundation is a registered Thai NGO which has been working with migrant workers from Burma for the last twenty years. Together with migrant communities, MAP works on issues of labour rights, access to education, the right to health, and women’s rights.

MAP Foundation’s Community Health and Empowerment (CHE) program needs a new Field coordinator. The position is based in Chiang Mai. MAP’s Community Health and Empowerment Program aims to improve migrants’ access to health promotion, including prevention and care, through community mobilization, education, advocacy and referrals including HIV and TB.

 

The position is under the STAR (Stop TB& Aids through RTTR) project, which is supported by the Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. MAP Foundation is a Sub-recipient under the migrant component of the STAR Project, which is overseen by Raks Thai Foundation as the Principal Recipient. The STAR Project is planned to end December 2017.

 

The Field Coordinator is a member of MAP Foundation. The Field Coordinator will be responsible for assisting the Programme Coordinator in overseeing the functioning of all projects under the Community Health and Empowerment (CHE) Program, which has a team of around 10 staff and volunteers. The Field Coordinator reports directly to the CHE Programme Coordinator.

Base salary starts at 12,500, but previous experience will be considered in negotiating salary scale.

Preferred Experience

MAP is looking for an individual with:

  • Previous management level experience
  • Experience in the field of HIV, and, if possible, Tuberculosis is an advantage
  • Experience in the field of migration
  • Thai and / or Burmese language and basic English is required

 

Expected Responsibilities

Project Management

  • Assist the Programme Coordinator with  planning team’s work plans, project activities and budgets
  • Coordinate between Field officers’ team and FOM’s team in order to:
    • plan implementation of activities
    • Monitor implementation within timeframe
    • Collect information from Data officer and FOs to prepare quarterly and annual report
    • Draft reports and submit to the Programme Coordinator in a timely manner.
    • Collect bills from FOs and prepare financial report

 

  • Team management:
    • facilitate problem solving and provide support;
    • ensure Care and Support team has regular debrief meeting for self-care
    • Organize and participate in monthly meetings with the project teams
    • Conduct monitoring and evaluation of FO and FOMs

 

  • Communication:
    • Contact and coordinate with relevant agencies (hospital, health service providers, employers, NGOs)
    • Prepare official letters to be signed by Programme Coordinator and record letters in  In/out file
    • Write article in Thai language to promote the project and migrant health issues for the media

 

Networking and Advocacy

  • Represent MAP and migrants’ issues regarding HIV and health in relevant forums and networks.
  • Network with stakeholders relevant to the project
  • Assist Progamme Coordinators and coordinate with local and national campaigns on related issues.

 

Organisation activities:

  • Take part in staff meeting and other MAP activities
