Position Title: Community EIA Case Study Writer/Editor

Position Summary:

The Community EIA Case Study Writer/Editor will work collaboratively with Mekong Partnership for the Environment (MPE) project to produce a consolidated booklet of case stories and collection of strategies and approaches on community engagement on EIA. Materials for the publication will be submitted and presented as part of the “Community Engagement in EIA: A Regional Exchange and Learning Forum”.  This event will be held on September 21-23, 2016.  The consultant will work under the supervision of the CSO Capacity Development Advisor. 

Primary Duties:

In coordination with the CSO Capacity Development Advisor,the consultant is responsible for the over-all preparation and production of consolidated case studies, strategies and approaches on community engagement on EIA that will be submitted prior to and presented on the “Community Engagement in EIA: A Regional Exchange and Learning Forum”. 

Responsible for editing, conducting further interviews as necessary, and writing/re-writing of case studies, strategies and approaches for publication.

Collaborate with MPE’s Graphic Designer on the lay-out and design of the consolidated product for publication.

Prior to the workshop, the consultant will communicate with Pact to fully prepare for the assignment by e-mail and face-to-face meetings at Pact office.

Submit the consolidated document in format agreed by the consultant and Pact within 10 working days after the event for review and comments.

Submit final product 10 days after draft approval.

DURATION OF ASSIGNMENT

The time required for the consultancy is estimated within the period from September 12 – October 30, 2016.

EDUCATION AND ABILITITIES

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such a: communications, media, public relations, and/or journalism

A minimum of 5 years’ experience in writing and editing-type work (editing, proof-reading, and formatting of reports)

Organized with the ability to handle multiple deadlines and a variety of tasks

Excellent writing and editing skills

High level of proficiency in verbal and written English required

High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office
