Project Coordinator
Background and Overall Description
Established in 2011, the South East Asia One Health University Network (SEAOHUN) is a consortium of 10 universities and 14 faculties in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam that are collaborating to build One Health capacity and academic partnerships with government, national, and regional stakeholders in the South East Asia region. SEAOHUN member faculty and staff receive support from USAID to enhance the student experience – learning One Health approaches to prevent and address outbreaks of zoonotic and emerging infectious diseases. A key function of SEAOHUN is to encourage and facilitate collaborative activities and projects among network members, with an emphasis on trans-disciplinary and trans-boundary partnerships. Programming includes but is not limited to support for student and staff exchanges, curriculum development, strengthening and developing teaching methodologies, and support for research capacity building and innovative projects that provide an evidence-base for One Health advocacy with government and other collaborating partner agencies.
Purpose
The Project Coordinator will work closely with the Regional Manager and Project team to carry out a wide range of tasks related to project formulation and implementation. The Project Coordinator will take responsibility on operational compliance of the activities for smooth implementation of the action. S/he will also support technical teams day-to-day interaction with National Coordinator Offices (NCOs), other key partners and activities like participating to develop One Health work plans, for implementing project activities. S/he will be responsible to coordinate actions in a timely manner according to the work plans and delivering high-quality outputs.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Project Planning and Management
Undertake day to day management of the project related to One Health education, including smooth project implementation, efficient use of resources.
Work closely with Strategic Planning and Development Manager and Project staff to prepare work plans, produce timely reports – financial and progress reports – as required by the USAID and UMN reporting systems.
Participate in prepare and manage the project budget and budget narrative for NCOs and Regional work plans.
Assist UMN and Tuft based-Regional Coordinator to ensure proper delivery of technical services accordingly One Health Workforce work plan and submission of technical and other reports
Ensure that USAID rules and regulations concerning finance, procurement and human resources are adhered to.
Advocacy, Partnerships and Resource Mobilization
Analyze progress and implementation, identify and document significant project events, decisions, problems or deviations with project staff.
Support NCOs in mobilization of the necessary work force to ensure that all project results are achieved at high quality through the development.
Establish and maintain partnerships with stakeholders (P&R, PREDICT 2, USAID, US Partners, government, NGOs, and, etc.).
Assumes additional responsibilities of as position nature required
Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualification
Education and Requirements
Master’s degree in Political or Social Science, International Relations, Management, Business
Administration, or a related field
Minimum of 5 years of progressive work experience in project management and/or international development setting, preferably on One Health issues and/or higher education in the region
Working knowledge of USAID rules and regulation on procurement preferred.
Experience working with an international organization or INGO will be an added advantage.
Excellent contract negotiation skills and experience; strong management and organizational skills, including multi-cultural sensitivity and awareness.
Excellent relationship management skills and strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise, consult and negotiate with staff at all levels, and with external agencies, service providers and clients.
Ability to work independently and be highly organized and self-managing, including a demonstrated capacity to establish work priorities and accept responsibility.
Flexible, willing to perform assigned and additional duties and work irregular hours under unpredictable conditions.
Computer Literacy:
Proficiency in current office software applications, including the ability to use databases.
Languages:
Excellent interpersonal proficiency in oral and written English communication, knowledge of other language is an asset.
English and native Thai language fluency required.
Base of Operations:
Chiang Mai, Thailand.
Reporting:
Reports directly to the Regional Manager.
