Background:
World Vision Foundation of Thailand (WVFT) is a non-profit, Christian organization, dedicated to transformational development of children, families and communities. It was founded in 1974, and is currently supporting children, families and community development in 48 provinces in Thailand.
Purpose of Position:
To indentify various organizational risks and to provide support, implement and to improve Corporate Risk Management procedures and mitigation methodologies – given the particular challenges arising from working in a difficult environment where political, financial, natural disasters are all vulnerabilities to our organization. The rule also encompasses staff safety & security management which is in line with partnership standards and local context. He/She provides guidance and assistance to staff and partners by ensuring policy and procedure adherence and compliance. The incumbent assists senior management in identifying risks and mitigating these. He/She is supposed to influence change within and across the organization to strengthen accountability and effectiveness.
Role Dimension:
Corporate Risk Management :
ê Develop, implement, and evaluate risk management concepts, standards and procedures in
line with existing partnerships standards.
ê Conduct and coordinate risk identification and evaluation in coordination with other
departments (esp. P&C, Finances, Communications, IT & HEA, Strategy & OD, etc.)
ê Develop, update and validate incident documentation and carry out detailed risk and
incident assessments.
ê Prepare and conduct Risk awareness training for staff as required.
ê Submit regular Corporate Risk Management Reports on a monthly basis.
Safety & Security Management :
ê Review security guidelines and make recommendations for improvements using templates
defined by the regional office for security management plans, evaluation contingency plans
and standard operation procedures.
ê Report Incidents as required by partnership standards in close cooperation with P&C and
Finances.
ê Conduct safety and security assessments of programs and make recommendations and
check implementation, accordingly.
Crisis Management :
ê Ensure that the organization has a Crisis Management Plan for all functions and offices,
which is updated ad least annually.
ê Ensure that adequate means of communication and other equipment are in place in close
coordinator with other departments.
Training & Development :
ê Coordinate basic training and information for staff and visitors.
ê Provide emergency and routine Risk Management, training, support and advice to staff.
Networking :
ê Work closely with other national and international NGOs colleagues in the country in risk
management as well as safety & security
Information & updates :
ê Provide up to date analysis and information, including alerts, according to agreed criteria
for communication as dissemination.
ê Undertake regular analysis and make recommendations about general risks to staff and
assets
Reporting :
ê Ensure that a system of incident reporting and after-incident review is in place, reflecting
WVI policies and protocols (Employee Relations Notification, Security Incident Reporting,
Financial Loss Reporting, Child Protection Incident Reporting, Media Crisis Reporting, etc.)
ê Develop a budget for risk management and safety and security related expenses, including
equipment training.
Job Qualification:
ê Bachelor’s degree or Master’s Degree in Management, Law, Finance or
International Development or relevant degree.
ê Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels, establish information
and security networks, and coordinate with country authorities, the military, donors,
International Organizations and local NGOs.
ê 3-5 years of field experience in humanitarian relief development aid or international
relations related programs in difficult environment.
ê Experience of working in difficult environments. Self motivated with the ability to work
autonomously in a highly stressful and challenging environment.
ê Ability to formulate and communicate analysis under pressure.
ê Ability to deliver training to multi-national staff.
ê Ability to affect change outside of line management structure.
ê Excellent written and spoken English.
ê Knowledge of local languages highly desirable.
ê Proven skills in concise and report writing, Ability to priorities risk management related
tasks and complete reports to deadlines.
ê Proven knowledge of MS office applications and IT literacy and capacity to learn and use
other packages.
ê Commitment to the aims and principles of WV. In particular, a good understanding of
WV’s mandate, the child focus of the organization and WVI’s Christian background.
ê Willingness to work in uncertain security environments.
ê Corporate Risk and Security is prefer.
