Duties and Responsibilities
- Facilitate resettlement processing for urban and Myanmar camp refugees.
- Ensure that electronic records in the UNHCR database and individual physical files are updated in a systematic and timely manner.
- Draft routine official correspondence and prepare documents necessary to facilitate the departure of refugees from Thailand for resettlement.
- Follow-up on cases from the time of submission to the final decision and departure.
- Comply with UNHCR’s standard operating procedures on resettlement, ensuring timely action on cases in need of follow-up.
- Assist in logistical arrangements of and facilitate selection missions by resettlement countries.
- Coordinate travel and departure arrangements for refugees accepted for resettlement.
- Conduct departure counselling for refugees scheduled to depart Thailand for resettlement.
- Provide counselling to refugees on resettlement eligibility and individual case status.
- Provide administrative support for resettlement-related activities, including training and/or organization of resettlement workshops and meetings as required.
- Assist in maintaining accurate resettlement statistics as well as up-to-date records on individual cases.
- Assist in the preparation of reports.
- Systematically apply an Age, Gender and Diversity perspective in all aspects of the resettlement process.
- Comply with UNHCR policy and guidelines on HIV/AIDS.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualification Requirements
- Thai national is preferable.
- Education and Skills: Completion of secondary education is the minimum requirement. University courses or degree in related field will be an added advantage. Knowledge of computer and use of various computer software packages, such as MS Word, Excel, and Access. Prior experience working with UNHCR’s database is a plus. The candidate must be a team player, with good organizational skills, attention to detail, and an ability to communicate across cultures.
- Experience: Minimum two-year experiences with refugees and or in related field. Good knowledge of resettlement issues and UNHCR resettlement policies and operational applications would be an asset.
- Key competencies: Analytical Thinking, Techonological Awareness, Planning and Organizing and Change Capability and Adaptability are required. Innovation and Creativity would be an asset.
- Languages: Fluency in spoken and written English. Knowledge of other UN language is desirable.
