Background

Our staff of more than 3,700 provides research and technical services to governments and businesses in more than 75 countries in the areas of health and pharmaceuticals, education and training, surveys and statistics, advanced technology, international development, economic and social policy, energy and the environment, and laboratory testing and chemical analysis.
RTI International through the U.S. Agency for International Development’s (USAID) Inform Asia: USAID’s Health Research Program, has received funding to provide technical assistance to a range of local stakeholders in the areas of knowledge management, and building capacity in the conduct of research. The program is entering a very busy work period and requires additional support from a senior consultant with public health experience in Lao PDR. It is envisaged that the proposed consultant work very closely with the Inform Asia RTI Chief of Party (and the Inform Asia team) to help RTI get established in Lao PDR.
Consultancy Roles and Responsibilities
Provide strategic guidance to assist RTI to determine if they will require an MOU to work in Lao PDR. Currently, the focus of the work is on malaria.
Act as RTI’s representative on the ground and help facilitate required meetings and introductions with stakeholders.
Deliverables will be determined in consultation with the Chief of Party on a task-by-task basis.
Skills and Experience:
Experience in working in global health.
Knowledge of the public health sector in Lao PDR.
Experience of working with USAID projects, is highly desirable. Exceptional communications and interpersonal skills and ability to work within a multi-cultural environment.
Fluent in English.

It is not envisaged that domestic and/or international travel will be required. However, should travel be required, kindly note that any travel costs will be paid for directly by RTI international.
