Job Title: Campaign Communications Officer 

Department: Communication & Public Relations   Job Family: Communication & Public Relations

Reports to: Communication & Public Relations Manager   Job Grade: BG-6

Location: Bangkok, Thailand  

Role Overview: The Campaign Communication Officer supports Amnesty International Thailand's campaign priorities and acts as a key bridge between the Communication Team and Campaign Team.  

The role ensures that communication is integrated throughout the campaign cycle, from planning and narrative development to implementation, public engagement, and evaluation. Working closely with campaign colleagues, the postholder develops communication approaches, messaging frameworks, and communication plans that support advocacy objectives and strengthen campaign impact. 

As part of the Communication Team, the role collaborates closely with Digital Communication, PR Communication, and Community & Impact Communication colleagues to deliver integrated communication strategies and audience engagement across multiple channels.  

The postholder reports to the Communication & Public Relations Manager and works closely with the Senior Communication Officer as applicable on day-to-day communication coordination, quality assurance, and campaign communication alignment. 

Key Responsibilities  

1. Campaign Strategy and Communication Integration  

  • Represent communication perspectives within campaign planning processes.  
  • Participate in campaign design, planning, implementation, and review processes.  
  • Ensure communication considerations are integrated throughout the campaign cycle.  
  • Advise campaign teams on audience engagement approaches, communication opportunities, narrative positioning, and communication risks.  
  • Develop communication approaches that support campaign objectives and advocacy goals.  
  • Support campaign teams in identifying opportunities to strengthen public engagement and influence.   

2. Narrative Development and Messaging  

  • Develop communication narratives and messaging frameworks for campaign priorities.  
  • Translate policy analysis, research findings, and advocacy objectives into clear, compelling, and audience-appropriate messages.  
  • Support framing of complex human rights issues for public audiences.  
  • Ensure consistency of campaign messaging across communication channels and activities.  
  • Review and adapt messaging based on campaign developments, audience feedback, and the political context.  
  • Maintain alignment with Amnesty International's values, terminology, and public positions.   

3. Campaign Communication Planning  

  • Develop communication plans that support campaign objectives and advocacy priorities.  
  • Identify key communication moments, opportunities, and milestones within campaign plans.  
  • Coordinate communication timelines and deliverables across campaign activities.  
  • Support the integration of media, digital, and community engagement approaches into campaign plans.  
  • Ensure communication plans are aligned with organisational priorities and available resources.   

4. Campaign Communication Coordination  

  • Serve as the primary communication focal point for assigned campaign priorities.  
  • Coordinate communication activities related to campaign implementation.  
  • Work closely with Digital Communication, PR Communication, and Community & Impact Communication colleagues to ensure integrated communication delivery.  
  • Brief communication colleagues on campaign objectives, messaging, and communication priorities.  
  • Ensure communication outputs remain aligned with campaign strategies and organisational positioning.   

5. Storytelling and Content Development  

  • Develop and coordinate campaign storytelling approaches that support campaign objectives.  
  • Identify stories, testimonies, and campaign narratives that strengthen public engagement.  
  • Produce or coordinate communication materials, including articles, statements, campaign resources, and public-facing content.  
  • Ensure ethical, accurate, and rights-based representation of affected communities and rights holders.  
  • Support the development of creative communication approaches that increase campaign visibility and engagement.   

6. Audience Engagement and Public Mobilisation  

  • Identify target audiences and communication approaches that support campaign goals.  
  • Support communication activities that encourage public participation, mobilisation, and action.  
  • Contribute to audience engagement strategies across online and offline communication channels.  
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen campaign visibility and public engagement.  
  • Work with campaign teams to ensure communication supports movement-building and advocacy objectives.   

7. Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning  

  • Support the monitoring of campaign communication activities. 
  • Track communication indicators, audience engagement, and campaign communication performance where relevant. 
  • Work closely with the MEL team to assess communication contribution to campaign outcomes.  
  • Contribute communication insights to campaign reviews, evaluations, and learning processes.  
  • Recommend improvements to communication strategies, messaging, and engagement approaches.   

Team Collaboration  

The postholder works closely with campaign colleagues to ensure communication is integrated throughout the campaign cycle, from planning and narrative development to implementation and evaluation. As part of the Communication Team, the role collaborates with Digital, PR, and Community & Impact Communication colleagues to deliver integrated communication approaches across multiple channels and audiences. The role also works with Growth & Acquisition, Fundraising, MEL, and Operations teams to support organisational objectives and campaign impact.    

Qualifications and Experience  

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, political science, international relations,public policy or a related field. 
  • At least 3–5 years of experience in communication, campaigning, advocacy, or related work. 
  • Demonstrated experience supporting communication for campaigns, advocacy initiatives, or public engagement programmes. 
  • Strong understanding of human rights issues and public advocacy. 
  • Excellent writing, editing, storytelling skills in Thai and good working proficiency in English. 
  • Experience working across multidisciplinary teams and managing multiple priorities. 
  • Basic skills in visual communication, graphic design, information design, or data visualisation are expected. Advanced skills are not required, but willingness to learn and strengthen these skills is important.

  • Content Development – Ability to produce clear and engaging communication materials across different formats and channels and experience in data visualization and information design skills and graphic design. 
  • Monitoring and Learning – Ability to assess communication effectiveness and apply learning to improve future work.
