Position: Business Development Manager
Duty station: Mae Sot, Thailand
Help without Frontiers Thailand Foundation (HWFTH) is a Thai registered NGO that provides help and support across national frontiers, as well as across the frontiers that may exist in our minds and hearts, to all people who, through no fault of their own, find themselves in an emergency situation from which they are not able to escape without assistance.
Our goal is to provide lasting help and values in form of health and education. Especially children and youth have grown dear to us.
Role Purpose
The core purpose of the Social Enterprise at HWFTH is to develop a successful model in order to make a larger impact in more communities, specifically through, though not limited to, the Happy Tailor Project and possible new income-generating projects. The Business Development Manager provides full service in building sustainable community-based businesses from conducting researches, feasibility studies, and developing business plans. The Business Development Manager reports directly to the Program Manager for the Social Enterprise at HWFTH.
Description of Responsibilities
The following points below would fit the ideal candidate. We encourage those to apply if they meet the majority of these criteria.
Develop a business plan for community products (including management, marketing, operation, financial plan); this would begin primarily with the Happy Tailor Project before moving onto new ventures.
Conduct feasibility studies on potential businesses related to community development that could potentially fit HWFTH and grow commitment to the Social Enterprise and Social Entrepreneurship.
Research and identify new opportunities to develop new businesses and create value-added products of communities.
Oversee all aspects of operations, ensuring effective customer service, product quality, and relations to stakeholders/communities/suppliers. This means working both with our staff inside the Happy Tailor Project and other HWFTH social enterprise projects as well as with customers and suppliers outside of HWFTH.
Deliver a professional, high quality and outcome-focused business administration.
Complete quarterly reports on operations of HWFTH’s income-generating projects, including an annual report.
Attend trainings and workshops where applicable.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education in business concepts is valued, but experience in real sales, marketing, and production is valued more.
Good understanding about social enterprise (SE) concept. Having experience working with SE is an advantage.
Ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of work experience in the related field of income-generation.
Able to conduct feasibility study and business analysis. Having sales experience or working in a small business can demonstrate this.
Female or male, age of 25 or older.
Ideal candidate would be able to communicate in Thai, Burmese, and English. Speaking Karen as well would be an advantage when working with staff.
Ability to write analysis and reports in English is required.
Competence in MS Office programs, specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Proactive and creative approach.
Good communication and interpersonal skills as well as an excellent team player, with a flexible and open-minded attitude.
Ability to work within tight deadlines and under pressure.
Willingness to travel for field work for one-third of time. Most work will be done at the social enterprise office and production zone.
A sense of humor and humility when working with migrate population along the Thailand-Myanmar border.
