Chemonics seeks a Chief of Party for the anticipated USAID-funded Sustainable Mekong Energy Initiative (SMEI). The goal of SMEI is to accelerate Lower Mekong countries' transition to low-emissions, high-performing economies through direct current and future investment in renewable energy sources and energy efficiency (specifically grid-connected solar power) that will lead to significantly reduced or avoided greenhouse gas emissions. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities include:
Provide overall project leadership through strategic planning, management, and technical implementation
Act as the primary activity point of contact for USG, Lower Mekong governments, donors, private sector entities, and other key stakeholders
Supervise project activities, including management of personnel and subcontractors
Supervise preparation of work plans, progress reports, financial reports, logistics, and other documents
Provide quality assurance on all project activities and deliverables
Qualifications:
Master's degree in environmental management, economics, energy-related engineering, energy policy, finance, or other related fields required; education beyond a master's degree in a related field preferred
Minimum 15 years of professional experience in the implementation of large and complex clean energy development and climate change mitigation projects
Proven leadership in the management of similar size international donor-supported activities with skills in strategic planning, management, supervision and budgeting
Experience working with senior government officials, private sector leaders, and other stakeholders in the energy and climate change sectors
Skills in building, mobilizing, and leading multi-disciplinary teams
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
Understanding of climate change and energy-related issues in the context of low carbon development
Energy sector work experience in Southeast Asian countries, especially in the Lower Mekong region
Familiarity with the political, social and cultural context of working in Asia is preferred but not required
Ability to oversee project compliance with all contractual and administrative requirements, with support from the home office
Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
