Position: Education Technical Specialist
Location: Mae Sot, Tak, Thailand

Description
World Education has worked on the Thai-Myanmar border for 15 years, improving access to and quality of education for displaced persons from Burma living on both sides of the border. During that time, World Education has supported curriculum development, special education, youth leadership programs, teacher training, vocational education, and organizational capacity building with local partner organizations.
World Education is currently implementing the educational component of the Project for Local Empowerment (PLE) with partners the International Rescue Committee (IRC), the Border Consortium (TBC) and the Mae Tao Clinic (MTC). The PLE focuses on providing multi-faceted support to a wide range of local education service providers including work with partners in the temporary shelters and migrant communities in Thailand as well as partners operating in S.E. Myanmar.
The Education Technical Specialist supports WE and partner projects with sound technical knowledge in educational programming and service delivery, through the design, delivery and monitoring of project support interventions. The Education Technical Specialist will design and develop systems, processes and tools for the measurement and the implementation of education quality measures including both short term interventions as well as longer term systemic measures, in areas such as literacy & language, parent and community involvement, teacher support. The position is based at the WE office in Mae Sot with frequent travel to S.E. Myanmar.
Core Responsibilities
Provide technical vision, design and implementation for education programming, in close collaboration with local partners and in alignment with World Education strategy and principles
Ensure the program objectives are met, that activities are on track and that results are of high quality
Liaise and collaborate with Organizational Development Coordinator and focal points to oversee reporting, monitoring and evaluation of technical interventions
Develop systems for follow-up and evaluation of interventions for organizational learning of best practices and identify lessons learned
Document strategies, tools and activity implementation
Skills & Qualifications
A minimum of a Bachelor‘s degree in a relevant or a related field is required, such as education; teaching and learning, education management/administration, bi-lingual education etc
3 - 5 years of experience in the design and implementation of programs in the education sector (experience in the fields of teaching and learning, MTB-MLE, literacy desirable)
Ability to communicate effectively with community based partner organizations
Strong interpersonal skills; and a demonstrated ability to be accountable for quality outputs and results
Strong organizational and planning skills required
Ability to work flexibly and empathetically in a dynamic and rapidly changing social and political environment
Fluency in English, written and spoken required. Language skills in a relevant local language desirable (Burmese/Myanmar, Thai, Mon, Karen)
