SMRU Background                                                               

The Shoklo Malaria Research Unit (SMRU) is a field station attached to the Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand. It is part of the Mahidol Oxford Research Unit (MORU) which is a collaborative effort between Mahidol and Oxford Universities, and is part-funded by a UK charity, the Wellcome Trust. SMRU’s aims are to:

i. Treat and care for patients with malaria.

ii. Undertake research into malaria in this area in order to determine the best methods of prevention and treatment.

iii. To advise on the treatment and the control of malaria in the South East Asia region and more widely.

Responsible for:

- Administrating of Windows Server 2012 , Firewalls & Proxies , Tape backup

- Configuration router

- Maintain SMRU web site and blogging

- Troubleshoot software, hardware and network problems

- Set up intranet

- Liaise with vendors on hardware, software, and other IT service purchase

- Monitor critical IT services to ensure they are running properly

- Maintain IT documentation, software licenses, and inventories

- Perform other duties as assigned

Qualification:

- Bachelors’/Master’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.

- Up to 3 years experiences in related fields.

- Microsoft certified for Windows Server 2012

- Pro's: Symantec Backup Exec, Symantec Endpoint Protection

- Pro's: Endian Firewall/Proxy

- Pro's: Blogging experience, Programming experience (CSS, HTML, JavaScript, PHP, PostgreSQL)

- Experience in Linux Debian Server and Linux and Mac OS.

- Experience in Joomla/DocPad/Hugo/etc. web site generator

- Experience in Windows 7/8.1/10, MS Office

- Experience with MikroTik RouterOS.

- Knowledge of PowerShell scripting.

- Good troubleshooting skills with the proven ability to pay close attention to detail.

- Fast learner with strong interpersonal and communication skills.

- Good spoken and written English and Thai.

- Able to get the job done unsupervised.

Base salary:  Depending on qualifications.
