MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the guidance of the Head, Natural Resources Group, and in close collaboration with the Senior Manager FLR, Global Forest and Climate Change Programme and IUCN Country Offices, Members, Commissions and other partners, the FLR Coordinator will be responsible for the development, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of an integrated and coherent FLR programme for IUCN-Asia. The position will have particular responsibility for ensuring effective implementation of the project, "Accelerating Action on REDD+ through Forest Landscape Restoration".

 

REQUIREMENTS

• Master’s degree in forestry/agroforestry, natural resources management, biodiversity conservation or other relevant discipline;  

• Minimum 7-10 years of experience in developing, managing and implementing multi-stakeholder projects with defined objectives, deliverables, monitoring and evaluation of results, including proven experience working in the Asia/Pacific region;  

• Solid experience with developing strategic plans at the regional and national level, developing workplans, fundraising and budgeting;  

• Solid experience in programme management, including leading multi-disciplinary teams;  

• Demonstrated understanding of issues related to land-use dynamics at the field, national and international level, and its social, environmental and economic implications;  

• Good knowledge and experience of GIS spatial analysis and land-use modelling for natural resource management;  

• Ability to work effectively within a large decentralized workforce of professionals of different nationalities and to mobilize it towards common goals;  

• Strong networking skills with developmental organizations, governments and international research organizations;  

• Excellent communication skills in English. Good written and spoken abilities in any of the regional languages is an asset;  

• Good computer skills in MS-applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook);  

• Ability and willingness to travel extensively within the region and beyond;
