Background:

Dreamlopments (DLP) is a Thailand-based social enterprise and foundation working on aid and development for underserved communities. DLP is running a large project/study of community-based testing and treatment of HIV and hepatitis C (HCV) for people who use/inject drugs (PWID) in Thailand. The C-FREE study is being conducted by a large consortium of Thai NGOS, research institutes, academic experts, government officials and international partners. The project design includes a cohort study, and an HCV treatment trial for participants with chronic hepatitis C. It takes place in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Songkhla, Narathiwat, and Tak. The research sites include 7 “drop-in-centers” (DIC) run by local NGOs, as well as government partner hospitals. One new study site in Khon Kaen will soon be added to the study. 

 

Job overview:

We are looking for Research Assistant (RA) for the C-FREE project at Krungthep-Nonthaburi site. The Research Assistant (RA) works under and with a site Research Nurse (RN). The RA, with the RN, oversees and coordinate the implementation of the C-FREE study project with partners and study participants at the site. The RA is also under the supervision of the Lead Study Principal Investigator (PI), Protocol Chair (PC), Senior Research Physician (SRP), Senior Study Coordinator (SSC), and Study Coordinator Assistant (SCA) and works in close collaboration on a daily basis with the staff of study partners, at Ozone for Krungthep-Nonthaburi site.

 

Key duties and responsibilities:

  1. Assists in screening and enrolling participants in the study.
  2. Manages research activity appointments.
  3. Assists in collecting and recording research information in the study-related documents and Case Report Form.
  4.  Assists in performing technical duties related to clinical research as directed and under the supervision of other study personnel.

 

 

  1. Assists in collecting, processing and shipping potentially biohazardous specimens.
  2. Prepares the referral letter for further diagnosis or treatment according to the national guideline or switching of medical treatment according to the protocol.
  3. Keeps clinic, laboratory equipment and laboratory spaces clean, organized and presentable.
  4. Order, stock and maintain inventory of clinical supplies and laboratory equipment (overseeing maintenance and updates), partnering with suppliers for hardware and software requirements.
  5. Provides travel reimbursement to participants at each study visit.
  6. Tracks site spending and provide regular status updates to the study coordinating center.
  7. Answers phone calls and LINE communication from participants regarding study protocol and scheduling visits.
  8. Assists in study site file maintenance and ensure that all required documents are accounted for and send study-related materials or documents to the study coordinating center.
  9. Maintains communication with the study coordinating center and follow up on tasks/submissions.
  10. Works collaboratively with other study partners.
  11. Performs other administrative duties related to the study as assigned.

 

Qualification and required competencies:

  1. Vocational Education Degree or Bachelor Degree of Science, Public Health, Social Science or other related fields.
  2. Preferably 3-4 year-experience in health-related projects.
  3. Experience in health research or community health work is a plus.
  4. Good computer skills in using Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point.
  5. Good command in English, is a plus.
  6. Strong organization skills, good attention to details.
  7. Good human relationship, observable skill and clear communication.
