Child Development Program Manager – Chiang Mai

Baan Dek Foundation (BDF) is a non-profit, non-political and non-religious organization based in Bangkok & Chiang Mai. BDF supports access to essential services for more than 1,600 vulnerable children and their families living in construction sites and slums. Through specifically tailored educational programs and flexible individual support, Baan Dek Foundation protects marginalized children, enables families to become self-sustainable and provides opportunities for a better future.

Responsibilities of the advertised position:

Baan Dek Foundation is currently looking for a professional and dedicated local Program Manager who will commit to contribute to the overall goals of Baan Dek Foundation and provide specialized support for the Child Development Program to support the beneficiaries targeted by the Foundation.

 

The Employee will work under direct supervision of the Director of Programs In Chiang Mai.

Social and educational activities under the supervision of of Program Manager include:

  • Critical day-care center
  • Non-formal education and provision of school support
  • Delivery of life skills and sports sessions
  • Youth and community empowerment

 

The main responsibilities of the Employee and will include, but are not restricted to, the following:

PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT, COORDINATION AND SUPERVISION

  • Together with Management and with the technical advisors, create and develop appropriate tools to address the needs of the communities, ensuring – at all times – that all projects are conducted in accordance with BDF’s Child Protection Policy, ethical standards, and best practices; and
  • Contribute within the Management Team to the general strategy and vision of BDF.

 

PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION 

  • Supervise the implementation, evaluation and achievement of the program objectives; 
  • Together with educational coordinator, ensure all activities are implemented according to the commitment to donors and BDF’s ‘Framework for Action’ in construction site camps and Slums with high populations of children;
  • Engage the team in high-quality social / educational work practice to support beneficiaries and to develop sustainable situations;
  • Support in developing and overseeing the overall monitoring system for BDF activities, from data collection to reporting results; and
  • Lead administrative and financial tasks related to the program (with the support of the respective departments).

 

REPORTING

  • Ensure reporting and follow-up of actions undertaken with beneficiaries;
  • Review and track weekly reports from educational coordinators about activities under their direct supervision;
  • Report weekly to the Director of Programs; and
  • Support drafting of activity reports to partners with the department in charge.

 

HR AND PUBLIC RELATIONS

  • Directly manage the team of Educational Coordinators assigned to ‘Child Development’ activities (4 staff);
  • Support recruitment, preparation of staff contracts and staff evaluations as required;
  • Promote a constructive and productive working environment among the staff;
  • Actively support information sharing, transparency and dialogue among the staff and with beneficiaries of all projects; and
  • Together with the Management, create and develop proper training for the BDF team and beneficiaries in accordance with BDF’s Child Protection Policy, ethical standards, and best practices.  

 

PARTNERSHIPS AND NETWORKING

  • Collaborate with local stakeholders (schools, local medical center, etc.) to ensure suitable implementation of the activities;
  • Support fundraising led by the Partnerships Team when requested;
  • Represent BDF upon request by welcoming and presenting BDF’s programs and activities to visiting partners & sponsors; and
  • Support in communicating and promoting BDF’s activities.

 

Qualifications:

 

Nationality: Thai nationals only

Language: Native Thai, Upper Intermediate spoken and written English (knowledge of Thai-Yai, Burmese or Khmer considered an asset).

Education Background: Minimum of bachelor degree in program management, education, social development or relevant field of study.

Experience:

  • Experience as a Program Manager, Coordinator, Educator or in relevant field related to child development, education and social sector (min. 2 years)
  • Ability to understand family situations and conduct assessments
  • Experience with non-profit organizations or in the humanitarian sector will also be strongly considered
  • Knowledge/experience in a complementary field (healthcare, early childhood development) will also be considered an asset

Working hours:  Full time - Monday to Friday (flexible schedule) and occasionally on weekends & evenings

Salary: To be defined based on experience and qualifications) - Complementary advantages provided (transportation and phone allowance, etc.)
