Clinical trial Project Manager (2-year contract)
Location: Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University (close to Victory Monument)
The Mahidol-Oxford Tropical Medicine Research Unit (MORU) is a vibrant, longstanding multinational medical research collaboration based in the Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University. MORU wishes to recruit a clinical trial project manager. The applicant should have an undergraduate degree or similar qualification, and have experience in managing large projects successfully. Some previous experience working in research would be an advantage.
The project is the PLATCOV clinical trial. This is a multi-country (Thailand, Brazil, Pakistan, Lao PDR and elsewhere) adaptive platform trial which is assessing antiviral drugs in early COVID-19 infections. The main clinical site in Thailand is the Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University. The trial requires lots of planning and logistical support over multiple sites.
The day to day work would involve:
Supporting the Principal Investigators of the study with the management and running of the study.
Monitoring timelines and progress of the sites, liaising with members of MORU (the coordinating centre) and sites regarding timelines, sample collection and storage, logistics of shipments, purchasing and distribution of materials and equipment, overseeing ethics and regulatory authority approvals, managing budgets etc;
Key requirements for the job are:
Excellent spoken and written English, including the ability to communicate well on technical topics and interact with medical personnel and scientists.
Enthusiasm and ability to work well with a team, but also to act independently, to identify potential issues or opportunities, and take proactive steps to address these.
Experience managing projects, ideally clinical trials, with knowledge and appreciation of the small details and the bigger picture.
