Job title: Social Auditor / Social & Human Impact Assessment Specialist

Employment type: Consultancy

Minimum experience: mid-level; assessments of compliance against (social) standards fluency in Thai and professional competency in English

Reports to: Program Lead

Location: Thailand

Contract period: 20 consultancy days, period of 6 months.




Embode is an international human rights consulting agency focusing on social protection and responsible business, with a particular specialisation in issues of child labour, human trafficking and labour and migration. In the 7 years since its inception, Embode has undertaken and published seminal work on issues such as child labour in cocoa, migrant labour in palm oil as well as forced labour in the garment sector. Our work continues to be at the cutting edge of corporate accountability and labour protection, where we work as an independent expert voice between industry, governments and civil society.

Based in Asia, with a small international team, Embode prides itself in being on the ground in locations where many of our projects are focused. Our clients include organisations across the UN, NGO and corporate sector, and our work consists of research, field assessments, training, strategy and policy development, workshops and more. Job Profile


The successful candidate will join our high-performing team to assess the sustainability performance of selected suppliers in line with relevant standards on issues such as ethics, working conditions, health & safety and wages.  You will undertake desk review, insight visits and consultations to develop an in-depth understanding of the suppliers' operations, seek indications of, and gaps in, compliance, and support the supplier in advancing its sustainability journey. You will have excellent communication and analysis skills, a strong understanding of and personal commitment to working on sustainable business. You will be able to work in partnership and autonomously, and have a track-record in analysing sustainability performance, making recommendations on operational aspects that require change, and have the strategic prudence to facilitate that change.    


Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Engage constructively with suppliers
  • Conduct desk research, consultations and insight observations
  • Review data; conduct comparative analysis
  • Formulate recommendations, co-create action plans and monitor implementation and progress
  • Provide remote back-stopping support to suppliers to advance the action plans


Competencies and Qualifications

  • Strong demonstrable social audit/assessment expertise and commitment
  • Excellent assessment and analysis skills; preferably in the areas of social, ethical and environmental compliance
  • Commitment to working from shared perspectives and in partnership
  • Ability to quickly grasp, analyse, summarize and present data coherently, and propose and monitor necessary changes
  • Ability to work efficiently and methodologically to support the achievement of deliverables
