Malteser International is a German non-governmental organization providing humanitarian assistance and development aid for people in need in over 20 countries. Malteser International is currently working with temporary refugee shelters in Sob-Moei district, Mae Hong Son province in Thailand. With funding provided by the European Union for the project “Health and WASH services, return preparedness and Capacity Strengthening for Refugees in the Thai –Myanmar Border Temporary Shelters”, our office located in Mae Sariang is looking for an efficient, motivated, and experienced individual for the position as Midwife Trainer.

 

Position: Midwife Trainer (1 position)

Duty Station: Mae Sariang town, Mae Hong Son province

Duration: 4 months

Work locations: Mae Sariang, Sob Moei District (Mae La Ma Luang and Mae La Oon Temporary shelters)

Salary Range: 31,500 THB + Insurance coverage

 

Main Responsibilities/Duties

  1. Review Malteser International training curriculum and methodology revise if required.

  2. Prepare initial training documents and tools such as PowerPoint presentation and handouts for training.

  3. Conduct the recruitment of initial Midwife trainees in collaboration with MNCH Coordinator and Field Coordinator.

  4. Conduct initial training according to the training curriculum.

  5. Prepare and conduct periodical evaluation of the trainees at the beginning and end of each module and properly record those results

  6. Prepare and conduct final examination, both theory and practical to assess the midwifery skills of the trainees.

  7. Prepare and submit periodical and final training report, indicating budget spent, training achievement and assessment of students trained with strength and weaknesses to be monitored during practical training.

Essential Qualifications/Skills:

  1. Nurse/Midwife Degree holder with previous training experience

  2. Proven experience (2-3 years) and practical work as midwife.

  3. Proven strong teaching, training, and proven supervision skills

  4. Experience of working with refugees is considered an asset

  5. Computer literacy, being able to use Word, Excel, and Power Point programs

  6. Well organized and detailed in planning

  7. Fluent in either Burmese or Karen language

  8. Good command of English is considered an asset.
