Job Introduction

BBC World Service is an international multimedia broadcaster, part of BBC News, delivering a wide range of language and regional services and working increasingly with other parts of

BBC News to serve global audiences. It uses multiple platforms to reach its weekly audience of 456 million globally, including TV, digital platforms, radio, digital satellite and cable channels.

BBC News Thai is part of the 16 services of the Asia Region. The multimedia service has a thriving online and social media presence.

Role Responsibility

To provide editorial and managerial leadership for the BBC News Thai team in Bangkok, ensuring that BBCThai.com remains the point of reference in international, local and regional news, through the publication of first-rate, creative content relevant to the target audience.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be fluent in both written and spoken Thai as first language or equivalent and have excellent English language skills with the ability to communicate effectively. You will have proven experience of staff management, motivation and appropriate deployment of staff with a variety of backgrounds to work in new ways in a rapidly changing multi-skilled environment. An up-to date knowledge of Thailand and Southeast Asia, in particular its political trends as well as social and cultural developments; its media market and the changing needs of the audience is also essential.
