Capacity Building Adviser (National volunteer role)

Duration: 12 months

Start Date: August, 2020

           

Role Overview

Capacity Building Adviser (National volunteer role) will support Puey Ungphakorn School of Development Studies (PSDS), Thammasat University, Rangsit Campus (PSDS), on capacity building and coordinate with partner organizations. The volunteer will also focus on sharing experience, transferring skills & knowledge, and strengthen the volunteering system in order to implement the workplan effectively.

 

About PSDS:

The Puey Ungphakorn School of Development Studies (PSDS) was originally founded as the Graduate Volunteer Centre (GVC) in 1969. Its objectives were to provide opportunities for graduates of different universities to experience rural life and learn about various aspects of local communities. The volunteers were expected to become more aware of rural and national development concerns. At present, PSDS becomes a full-fledged higher education institute that provide 3-degree programs; Graduated Diploma program on volunteerism, Bachelor of Arts in Creative Development (since 2016), and Master of Arts in Creative Development (since 2018). 100 students enroll annually in the BA program, 20 in the MA program and 25-30 in the Graduate Diploma program. The three programs aim to develop social change agents. Undergraduates; the students they may choose to focus on contemporary community development, corporate social responsibility (CSR), social entrepreneurship, or volunteer management. The MA program on Creative Development focus on research-oriented approach to their topic of choice. The Graduate Diploma program is still Thailand’s first and only service learning program for the rural community.

 

Knowledge/qualifications/experience

• Extensive knowledge on volunteer management.

• Knowledge and work experience related to sustainable development goals (SDGs).

 

Experience:

• Experience and knowledge of youth and education development (Preferred but not necessarily).

 

Skills/Abilities:

• Experience on youth engagement and volunteer management.

• Able to adapt to new environment and work with others.

• English skills at moderate level

• Able to use basic Microsoft Office package and presentation skills.

• Able to take note, capture key points, and summarize the report during seminars or conferences.

Allowance

 

As a VSO volunteer, you will be sharing your skills with local communities on a full time basis. VSO will cover your medical insurance costs, along with a local living allowance which will be paid in local currency. This allowance meets reasonable living expenses in country,  but will not be enough to send money home.
