Finance and Accounting Manager

Internal: Operations and Program, Board, Sub-Committee

External: Partner organizations, Thai government

Financial/Budget

Direct:  None.

Indirect: Budget for financial management capacity building activities

 

Responsibilities

Summary

The Suwannimit Foundation is a Thailand registered foundation dedicated to strengthening the operational capacity and sustainability of community-based organizations that service underprivileged people on the Thailand-Burma border.

The Accounting Officer will handle all accounting duties including facilitation of government requirements. Accounting duties will include, but not limited to, bookkeeping, review of supporting documents.

 

This role will also, from time to time, assist in providing training and mentoring to Partner organizations and Program staff on best practices for financial management and one-on-one training on how to provide proper financial documentation and reporting for SNF related transactions based on the set policies and procedures.

 

Job Specific

 

As assigned by immediate supervisor, the Accounting Officer has the following roles.

 

  • Review of payment voucher and its supporting documents;
  • Recording and filing of completed payment voucher;
  • Recording and filing of cash receipts;
  • Monthly cash and bank reconciliation;
  • Updates bank books, secures bank credit advice and bank statements;
  • Payroll processing, distribution of pay slips and  filing;
  • Keeping of financial documents including its archiving and disposal.
  • Provides budget vs. actual to relevant persons on a monthly basis
  • Follow up partner financial report and review supporting documents.
  • Co-facilitate with Finance Manager for activities such on financial management workshops.
  • Assist Finance Manager on audit preparation.

  • Completion of Business Administrative/ Basic Accounting course

 

Work Experience

  • At least 1 year experience demonstrating hands-on skills in administrative functions

 

 

 

Skills/Knowledge/Aptitude

  • Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
  • Computer literacy, knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint

 

 

Language(s)

  • Fluent Burmese
  • Thai proficiency
  • Basic  English speaking, reading, and writing

 

Motivation

  • Special interest in improving the works of grassroots organizations
  • Self-motivated, and a self –starter but able to work as part of a team
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness

 

Other

  • Familiarity with the border context, preferably Thailand-Myanmar border
  • Special interest in improving the works of grassroots organizations
