Youth Employment Solutions Internship

 

I.           Introduction

Plan works in 50 developing countries across Africa, Asia and the Americas promoting child rights and lifting millions of children and their families out of poverty. Plan is committed to increasing the resilience and economic security of marginalized youth and families by providing the skills necessary to find decent work and secure livelihoods.  These efforts benefit from Plan’s local relationships (community, government), experience in youth employment programs throughout the Asian Region.

 

II.           Background

Plan’s Asia Regional Office has recently seen a significant growth to its work on youth employment and decent work agenda.  The growth in ICT has brought the creation of a diverse team with a significant portfolio of work in all areas.  This includes the need for greater attention to internal and external professional grade materials for circulation including newsletters, proposals, training materials and administrative documentation.  Plan Asia seeks the support of one (1) youth intern to assist with the work and enhance the professional development of youth as key agents of change. The intern is expected to assist the Youth Employment Solutions (YES!) team in Bangkok.

 

III.          Objective of the TOR

To provide professional grade services including, but not limited to:

 

  • Concept and content development for knowledge and capacity building pieces that may include documents related to the Area of Global Distinctiveness, Girls Advocacy Alliance, Wired for work, Seas of Change, Digital Development and tools for monitoring and evaluation training concepts,
  • Working on outreach (when required) and public engagement through the development of communication materials and ICT products related to youth employment;
  • Concept and content development for newsletters, research, proposal development, training concepts, documentation including copy editing, content revision for consistency and clarity;
  • Development of Knowledge-based products in collaboration with YES! Communications Team;
  • Other tasks as mutually agreed upon.

Task will be based on monthly work plan approved by the supervisor.

 

  1. Deliverables/output

 

Outputs will be based on monthly work plan approved by the supervisor.  Additional outputs as stipulated in the work plan with corresponding deadlines will be agreed with the consultant and constitute additional outputs associated with the Terms of Reference.   

 

  1. Schedule / Budget

 

The internship period will run full time from February to July 2019. Plan International will provide compensation of USD $650 for the intern against the time spent on task orders on a monthly basis.  The internship will last for Six (6) months with a possibility for extension.  In case of Non-Thai applicant, all living and visa expenses will be covered by the intern (Him/Herself).

 

  • Qualifications

 

  • At least a bachelor’s degree in development studies, economics, social sciences, or related fields
  • Ability to work independently, and prioritize and manage complex and varied workload, often to tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, to present arguments clearly and powerfully to a variety of audiences;
  • Track record for delivery results and meeting deadlines.
  • Experience of promoting coordination and cooperation with other agencies through networking and alliance building;
  • Preferably experienced and interested in youth employment, advocacy and influencing, youth empowerment and gender-related programming
  • Knowledge of English and Frech/Spanish is required.
  • Preferably a Thai citizen.
