Fishery Project Officer

Reporting to: Fishery Manager

Division/Department: Sustainable Market

Base Location: Bangkok

Background and Purposes:

As the world's growing population reaches the shortage and unsustainability on food and natural resources, WWF Thailand now launch its Sustainable Market project in fisheries, forestry, and agriculture to assist and guide businesses towards a more environmentally sustainable practice. WWF plans to achieve this by engaging with various stakeholders including government agencies, private sectors, standard owners and consumers to influence this change. This position will work closely with fishery industry and influencers to drive improvement projects and help create a more sustainable fishery practice for Thailand. 

Major Role Responsibilities

• Plan and undertake project activities with team members along the strategic objectives to ensure the project progress per plan.
• Follow up the inquiries with stakeholders to boost the policy influencing progress, and review regulations to find out the observations and solutions to propose the policy
• Liaise and facilitate meetings with other organizations to realize the impact in policies and negotiate for mutual understanding
• Provide technical support on awareness campaigns to the communication team and support along the process to raise the consideration in domestic consumption and related issues
• Research the fishery situation and relevant information in Fishery Improvement Projects to support the creditability when negotiating and other purposes

Qualifications:

• Bachelor degree in the fishery, marine science, environmental management, agriculture studies or in relevant fields
• 1-3 years’ experience in coordinating with several stakeholders
• Experience In fisheries or marine conservation program
• Understanding in Fishery method, Fishery management, Fishery resource
• Knowledge in fishery improvement project & certification Scientific base research approach
• Good command in English
