ROLE PURPOSE:
Save the Children Thailand has been supporting education for Karen children in Southeast Myanmar for the past three years. Our program is implemented in partnership with the Karen Teachers Working Group (KTWG) and has been focused on increasing the supply of education to support 80,000 at risk out of school children (OOSC) and youth to enroll in school. The project has been implemented from the Thailand side of the Thai-Myanmar border as remote conflict affected areas of Southeast Myanmar are not yet accessible from the Myanmar side and because Karen organizations, such as KTWG and KED, which provide extensive support for education to Karen communities are based in Thailand. For the period January 2017 to December 2019 Save the Children Thailand will focus on building upon our current work to continue to will improve the quality of education, with a specific focus on foundational literacy and numeracy skills.
