Position: Part-time Administration, Finance & Logistics consultant

Location:  Chiang Mai,Thailand

Duration: August (one month)

Supervisor: Earth Rights Defender Coordinator

EarthRights International (ERI) is a nonprofit, nongovernmental organization (NGO) with offices in Washington D.C., Thailand, Peru, and Myanmar. ERI combines the power of law and the power of people in defense of human rights and the environment, which we define as "earth rights". We specialize in fact-finding, legal actions against perpetrators of earth rights abuses, training grassroots and community leaders, and advocacy campaigns. Through these strategies, EarthRights International seeks to end earth rights abuses, to provide real solutions for real people, and to promote and protect human rights and the environment in the communities where we work. The Administration, Finance & Logistics Consultant, is a short term (1 month) and part-time (total of 15 days) position in ERI’s Chiang Mai office. The consultant reports to the ERD Coordinator and will provide both administrative, financial and logistic support for workshops and a conference that will take place in Chiang Mai from 21-24 August. You will receive compensation based on your experience and skills level.

The ERD Coordinator shall supervise and assign the Consultant work, and the Consultant will work in collaboration with other staff, partners, and workshop and conference participants as needed. The term of the consultancy is for the entire month of August.

Main Responsibilities:

This position necessitates the ability to strong attention to detail and organizational skills and excellent interpersonal and intercultural communication skills and team work spirit. Under the primary supervision of the ERD Coordinator, the Administration, Finance & Logistics Consultant will be responsible for the following tasks:

  1. Liaise with workshop participants and resource persons and conference speakers to support their travel and logistics arrangements.
  2. Compile databases and schedules of travel details, accommodation and logistical needs for workshop participants and resource persons and conference speakers.
  3. Help arrange local transport, accommodation and social events for participants, speakers and resource persons.
  4. Compile expenses claims and manage issuing of reimbursements for workshop participants and resource persons and conference speakers in collaboration with ERI Finance staff.
  5. Other administrative or logistical support as required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience on organizing logistic, administrative and financing issues for a regional and international audience.
  • Self-driven and independent working style
  • Native Thai speaker, intermediate in English writing and speaking.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and intercultural communication skills.
  • Demonstrated interest in human rights, environmental, international, and/or development issues.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year of experience working on administrative/logistics and/or financial field in nonprofit organization/NGO.
