A U.S. environmental consulting firm invites qualified candidates to apply for the position of:

Communications and Outreach Specialist

for one and a half years remaining in regional program of the United States Agency for International Development, based at the consulting firm’s office in Bangkok, Thailand

On May 14, 2015, Tetra Tech was awarded USAID/Regional Development Mission for Asia’s (RDMA) Oceans and Fisheries Partnership (USAID Oceans), a five-year regional program working to combat illegal fishing and enhance fisheries’ sustainability.

USAID Oceans requires a Communications and Outreach Specialist (COS) to support program communications and public outreach from its office in Bangkok, Thailand. The COS will work directly with the USAID Oceans Senior Communications and Outreach Manager to support the implementation of all internal and external communications activities, and with the program technical field teams to develop relevant communications content for priority target audiences through the use of the program website, social media, and print resources. The COS will also support reporting and information requests from USAID | RDMA and other partners.

Ø  Principal Responsibilities and Tasks

The Communications and Outreach Specialist will:

• Coordinate with USAID Oceans field teams and technical leads to develop and update website and blog content to communicate program events and activities;

• Develop and curate social media content, including management of USAID Oceans Facebook Page, Group and Twitter account;

• Develop target audience-driven content for new program informational materials, including factsheets, brochures, success stories, and presentations;

• Support the development of Quarterly Progress and Annual Reports;

• Oversee collection of program staff trip reports for submission to USAID Oceans Finance and Operations Manager and to inform program communications;

• Respond to information requests from USAID | RDMA, including the development of Bi-Weekly Program Progress Bullets;

• Support the Senior Communications and Outreach Manager in the management and coordination of communications-related contractors work, including the submission, review, and acceptance of contracted deliverables.

Ø  Skills and Qualifications (Minimum Requirements)

The Communications and Outreach Specialist must have at least two years of working experience in strategic communications, publications, website management/content development, and social media, with a Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism or related field. In addition, the following knowledge and skills are required:

• Advanced professional proficiency in English reading, writing, and speaking
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to be self-directed and work well independently and as part of a team
• Strong writing skills are essential, with an eye towards detail/editing
• Creative content-developer, with ability and passion for crafting compelling and newsworthy stories
• Interest and adeptness in managing social media platforms Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and other related supporting applications
• Graphic design skills are preferred, but not required
• Capable of providing examples of exemplary contributions to the success of past projects
