Job Purpose

As part of the Protection Department, the ICRC Regional Delegation in Bangkok wish to appoint a motivated and rigorous Detention Field Officer. The purpose of this position is to work within a team in the delivery of all activities conducted in detention facilities.

Main responsibilities

• Translates all types of documents independently (correspondence, law and regulations, official documents, newspaper articles, external reports) from English into Thai and vice versa, with specific focus on documents related to detention activities; contributes to revision and proof-reading of translated documents.
• Administers data collected by the ICRC to support its protection activities; carries out data processing; applies and updates data entry procedures.
• Conducts media monitoring and provides a summary of the most current situation on areas that are the ICRC’s main concerns.
• Other duties as assigned, including, when needed, participating in visits to relevant detention places, interpreting from English to Thai for ICRC delegates in meetings and preparing minutes of meetings.

 Selection requirements and experience

• University degree or equivalent in English
• 3 year work experience in a similar field
• Fluent in written and spoken English and Thai
• Excellent computer literacy
• Very good analytical skills
• Flexible and able to travel occasionally into field or abroad to support assignments
• Content with both office paperwork and field support activities as required
