TOR for Consultant

Facilitator for Water-Safety Teachers’ Training: Art Camp

  1. Background

Drowning is the most common cause of death among children in Thailand. Promoting knowledge on drowning prevention is a key priority for Save the Children to increase children’s safety in Thailand. Save the Children, in partnership with the Thai Life Saving Society (TLSS) and the Bureau of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD), Ministry of Public Health is initiating a project that provides survival-swimming lessons to student’s grade 4-5-6, with ages 8-12 years old in 5 public schools in Bangkok.

Education is important in promoting behavior change, and there is currently a lack of educational materials on child drowning prevention in Thailand. Therefore, Save the Children aims to support teachers to develop their own materials to raise awareness on child drowning prevention through art classes and integration into other subjects.

The successful consultant is expected to follow up on the progress of school activities and provide suggestions to teachers on the intervention activities around July-August. The will require ongoing communication with teachers and monitoring visits to classrooms.

2.2. The consultant will be expected to provide updates on the implementation of activities in schools to Save the Children. The consultant will also be asked to help coordinate Save the Children’s visit to schools implement the drowning prevention module.

  1. Reporting and Documentation
