VACANCY – INTAKE VOLUNTEER

The Center for Asylum Protection (CAP) provides free legal aid services to urban asylum seekers and refugees in Bangkok, Thailand. CAP is a part of the People Serving People Foundation (PSPF), a young and vibrant Thai foundation that is focused on human rights, assisting vulnerable populations, and civil society development in the ASEAN region.

 Role and Responsibilities:

• Conducting intake of clients
• Drafting intake papers and recommendations
• Coordinating with the legal team in the provision of legal services
• Delivering advice workshops for newly arrived asylum seekers
• Assisting with country of origin information research
• Ensuring client databases are in order and up to date
• Supporting protection work and community outreach activities
• Assisting with interviewing clients and drafting client testimonies

Qualifications & Requirements

• A first degree in any discipline, with a law degree preferred
• Ability to communicate effectively in English
• Knowledge of international human rights law and UN mechanisms
• Experience working with or on behalf of asylum seekers and refugees or vulnerable populations is a plus
• Excellent written, communication, and organizational skills
• Language skills a plus

 Duration

The volunteer position is expected to last for 6 months.
