ECHO Regional Support Office – Bangkok, Thailand

VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT – ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT  

 

The European Commission’s Directorate General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO) funds relief operations for victims of natural disasters and conflicts outside the European Union. For humanitarian aid, the Commission works with about 200 operational partners, including United Nations agencies, the Red Cross/Crescent movement and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Aid is channelled impartially, straight to victims, regardless of their race, ethnic group, religion, gender, age, nationality or political affiliation.

 

ECHO Regional Office in Bangkok is seeking to recruit one national staff to be based in Bangkok for the following position of:

Administrative Assistant (Group IV)

Ref 2018-02 - AA

The candidate needs to demonstrate the following criteria:

  • A relevant secondary education or equivalent commercial school. Minimum Secretarial Diploma.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience;
  • Very Good drafting skills;
  • Knowledge in accounting will be an advantage;
  • Capable of working under pressure, both in a multitasking position and in a multicultural environment;
  • Previous experience in a Governmental or other International Organisation is an  advantage;
  • Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.);
  • Good communication skills; fluency in English (speaking & writing);
  • Excellent knowledge of Thai language (speaking & writing);
  • Knowledge of French language will be an advantage.

 

As a part of a dynamic team, the Administrative Assistant will ensure an efficient operational and financial support to the assigned team, and an effective coordination with other interlocutors, through appropriate secretarial, financial & administrative duties. For the detailed activities, see attached Terms of Reference (TOR) for the position. Note that a one-year contract will be offered. Renewal could be proposed, depending on performance and confirmation of the Administrative Assistant position in the office’s organigramme.
