Growing Together Project – Regional Coordination

Background to the work/tasks             

Handicap International Federation, under the operating name Humanity & Inclusion (registered trademark) is an independent and impartial international aid organization working in situations of poverty and exclusion, conflict and disaster. Working alongside persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups, our action and testimony are focused on responding to their essential needs, improving their living conditions and promoting respect for their dignity and their fundamental rights.

“Growing Together” is a four year regional project implemented by HI and partners in Thailand, Bangladesh and Pakistan in order to support communities to raising socially and emotionally healthy children in refugee/IDP camps and in host communities. The project goal is to enable children with disabilities and other vulnerable children to develop their full potential on an equal basis with other children and acquire fundamental educational and social skills through inclusive play, arts, games, sport, culture, and early years’ education in displacement settings in Bangladesh, Pakistan and Thailand.

In 2017, baseline surveys covering three outcomes of the Growing Together project were conducted in Bangladesh and Thailand, and final baseline assessment reports (one per country) have been produced.

Specific Objectives

The external consultant (designer) will work closely with the regional project coordinator and technical coordinator and other members of the regional team to produce high quality design (layout), and infographics of the baseline reports (2 reports, approximately 60 pages each).

Methodology 


Details of how the work should be delivered:

After receiving from HI the final text/instructions for the publication material (report), the designer will provide design and layout services:

-Submit the preliminary layouts for discussion with HI; 


-Revise the selected layout as discussed with HI; 


-Design and layout the material; 


-Submit the material to HI for review; 


-Prepare the electronic files for the printing house; 


-Create PDF from final electronic file for HI Web posting; 


-Submit all final files to HI on flash drive when requested. 


The consultant will be directly managed by GT regional project coordinator.


 Key Deliverables/Outputs, including timeframe and project duration:

Timeframe:

All the deliverables are expected to be finalized and submitted by March, 19, 2018.

Copyrights & utilization rights:

The copyright of all materials delivered under the terms of the contract will belong to HI. The designer will not be authorised to publish or reproduce them anywhere else.

Milestones and Payment Schedule:

Payment will be made upon submission of all the deliverables above.

Essential profile of the consultant:

• University degree in communications, graphic design, social sciences, graphic arts or a related field
• Excellent knowledge of graphic design software
• Proficiency with software packages, most specifically Adobe Suite (InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop) and MS Office (Publisher, PowerPoint, Visio) and any other communication software
• Experience in designing multiple language publications; with strong background in developing communication tools
• Proven ability to produce quality work accurately and concisely according to set deadlines
• Portfolio must contain samples of works showcasing design and layout experience: reports, posters, flyers, infographics, illustrations
• Fluency (spoken and written) in English
• Creativity and innovative approaches to synthesizing and sharing information in an inclusive and child-friendly way, particularly using visual communication methods
• Experience in designing and developing IEC materials on child protection, child participation and child development is a plus.

• Cover letter demonstrating relevant experience
• Individual portfolio showcasing range of work: illustration, brand identity, posters, flyers etc. with links to specific sites/media; outlets/publications where the works have been published
• Itemized consultant’s fees
