Capacity Building Officer
Purpose of position
Thailand experiences significant patterns of human trafficking as a destination, source and transit country for woman ,man,girls and boys subjected to sexual and forced labour exploitation. It is well recognized and that trafficking largely occurs disguised within flows of incoming migrant workers and significant trends of trafficking and labour exploitation have been identified throughout Thai’s key industries – fishing , aquaculture industry, and tourism. Further, the growth of these industries in Thailand are said to have also to have also enabled the growth of a market for human trafficking largely due to lack of access to real-time information on labor/migrant law; lack of local-language information; limited distribution and creative outreach to most at-risk populations in source/destination; limited access to services and disconnected informal and formal sectors; fear of self – reporting to government ; and limited engagement of private sector for integration/reintegration services.
Major Responsibilities
- Establish and main networks with local counter-trafficking partners including civil society Organizations ,community based Organizations, Local Government /Local Authorities ,Non-Government Organizations and private sector actors, especially those identified as receiving sub-granting for activities.
- Mobilize CTiP actors and beneficiaries to attend capacity building trainings and networking events that empower at risk populations to safeguard their rights and strengthen protection systems; support senior Project Officer to deliver said trainings/workshops/events
- Maintain up-to-date-knowledge and understanding of WV training material used in capacity building activities
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to quickly establish professional relationships and engage a wide range of partners in trainings
- Familiarity with child protection standards Rights of the child , labour and trafficking law etc.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently with little direct supervision.
- Flexibility and willingness to travel within Thailand as needed.
- Data management - Keeps meticulous records.
- Languages: Fluency in English and Thai (reading, writing, speaking); working knowledge of migrant languages (Khamer, Loatioan, Burmese) a plus
- Ability to think critically and take initiative
