Reporting to the Founder and the U.S Board, The Thailand Director will have strategic and management responsibility of Urban Light grants, budgets, programs and staff. The Thailand Director will work closely with UL Finance Officer to ensure all spending/funding is in line with grant budget.
Strong candidates will have significant experience in performing grant research, grant writing, program design, implementation, compliance, reporting, and evaluation. They will also have demonstrated experience in working with marginalized communities and an expertise in the commercial sexual exploitation and trafficking of youth.
The Thailand Director, in conjunction with the Director of Programs and Founder, will have a counted vote in final decision-making regarding UL programs and services, always with the best interest of the mission and clients we serve as our guiding force.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations of the UL programming: Prevention, Outreach and Awareness
- Lead, manage and empower all Youth Center staff, volunteers and interns, including recruitment, training, guidance, evaluation and capacity building
- Manage planning and implementation of grant programs based on proposals
- Prepare financial and budget plans in collaboration with finance department
- Analyze budget trends and make recommendations for cost control and reduction for various grants
- Manage Youth Center budget, payment, tracking and recording of all grant expenses
- Develop and direct UL programs based on strategic plans
- Oversee, monitor, evaluate and report on the outcomes of all programs and services provided both onsite at the Youth Center, as well as off-site community-based locations
- Provide Founder and Board with quarterly updates from the field
- Build and maintain productive relationships and partnerships with Thailand-based and international NGOs, churches and governments to leverage support for Urban Light
- Develop a strong rapport with UL youth, participate in center-based activities regularly and attend outreach opportunities when applicable
- Manage and correspond with local and international VIP donors and visiting groups arriving to the Youth Center
- Build and maintain a working knowledge of current trends and developments related to local trafficking, youth exploitation and commercial sexual exploitation
- Adhere to the Child Protection Policy, related Health and Safety practices and all Urban Light Policies and Codes of Conduct.
Required Qualifications:
- Must be bilingual: English and Thai
- Must have a minimum of 2 years experience in a senior management and leadership position, preferably in an international NGO environment
- Must have a minimum of 2 years experience working with adolescent youth, at-risk youth and culturally diverse populations
- Masters or Bachelor degree in nonprofit management, international development, social services, global health, and /or other related field OR significant professional experience in a relevant field
- Must have 2 years experience working in a cross-cultural environment
- Must have worked in a fast-paced, continually changing environment
- Experience living and/or working in Thailand
- Grant management experience
- Excellent project management skills and an strong understanding of the importance of monitoring and evaluation
- Experience in managing and supervising administrative projects
- Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
- Firm understanding of and commitment to UL’s mission and objectives
- Ability to perform in cross-functional team approach and job responsibilities
- Experience managing major budgets and developing financial reports
- A multi-tasker with strong ability to work under extreme pressure
- Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines and produce quality results on time with attention to detail
- Analytical, problem solving and coaching skills
- Demonstrated ability to develop strong rapport with at-risk youth
