Our dedicated teams of law enforcement, development, and communications specialists transform behavior and empower people. We also promote good governance and capacity building to protect vulnerable people and endangered species from the snares of organized crime and corruption. 

Freeland is looking to hire a dynamic full-time Field Project Manager. The successful candidate will be required to: 

Location. Based in the Bangkok or other locale with 70% travel to field and 30% Bangkok (Freeland office)

Directly reports to: Program Director, Freeland

Based in Bangkok with weekly travel to the field

Qualifications

• Thai National
• Master’s degree in biology, natural resource management, environmental or conservation management, or relevant field
• Preferable, at least 5 years experience
• Driving licence

Other attributes

• English language required
• Knowledge of wildlife conservation issues in Thailand
• Ability to work unsupervised
• Strategic thinking and decision making
• Report writing

Role and responsibilities  

Overall role and responsibility

• Project over-sight in the field to ensure staff follow work plans, work responsibly and implement activities on time
• Act as an expert focal point and lead for Freeland field projects, such as wildlife surveys, during interactions with the DNP and parks in the Dong Phayayen-Khao Yai Forest Complex
• Represent Freeland in meetings related to projects
• Assist and support all Freeland activities implemented under Freeland’s Surviving Together Program in and around the Dong Phayayen-Khao Yai Forest Complex - DPY-KYFC, which include;

1. Park management support,
2. Wildlife monitoring,
3. Community outreach, and
4. Training support.

Specific tasks include;

1. Regularly meet with DP-KY National Park Superintendents, Assistant Superintendents, and relevant DNP officers about project work in and around DPY-KYC, plan and negotiate through plans, problems and bring opportunities to the attention of project coordinator in Bangkok.
2. Participate in wildlife surveys
3. Support GIS and SMART technical support and training for focal sites in the Dong Phayayen-Khao Yai Forest Complex (DP-KY)
4. Work closely with focal parks to ensure relevant field data (Violation data, wildlife data, GPS downloads and photographic data) is:

• Collected in a standard manner,
• Stored monthly in a manner that catalogues it in a retrievable manner,
• Utilized in monthly adaptive management planning
• Entered into SMART database.

1. Provide support to park based data management units if required in processing data, subsequent data analysis and report writing.
2. Act as a coordinator concerning questions and suggestions from partners on the project which should be relayed back to Bangkok for consideration and response.
3. Help during training activities as required.
4. Other tasks as directed by supervisor.
