BACKGROUND
Founded in 2007, APCOM is a coalition of members – governments, UN partners, non-profits and community based organisations – from Asia and the Pacific. We represent a diverse range of interests working together to advocate on, highlight and prioritise HIV issues that affect the lives of gay men, men who have sex with men (MSM) and persons with diverse sexual and gender expressions, including their rights, health and wellbeing.
APCOM is registered as a Foundation in Thailand and has its Secretariat based in Bangkok which carries out the work of APCOM as per our current 2014-2019 Strategic Plan. The plan has four distinct strategic results areas:
- Advocacy for sexual health services for our communities, aimed at engaging health policy makers, programme planned and services to scale up their service delivery.
- Advocacy for an enabling environment for sexual health and support services aimed at pushing national governments and policy makers to establish MSM and transgender friendly legal environments, to ensure that health services are accessible.
- Gathering, generating and sharing strategic information for advocacy, to ensure community and development partners have access to relevant information to generate evidence-based work.
- Building a cadre of advocates at all levels, to ensure there is support for current community advocates and to support the development of new emerging leaders.
APCOM is currently looking to hire a Senior Campaigns Coordinator to develop, coordinate, implement and evaluate the campaigns of the organisation.
SUMMARY OF THE POSITION
The primary responsibility of the Senior Campaigns Coordinator is to ensure a smooth, efficient and effective development, implementation and evaluation of APCOM’s campaigns.
Among other projects, the Senior Campaigns Coordinator will be expected to coordinate and execute the Regional City based HIV Testing Campaigns which covers currently city-based campaigns in Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City, Jakarta, Manila and soon to add Hong Kong and Yogyakarta.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITES
- Manage and coordinate the development, implementation, evaluation and monitoring of APCOM’s campaign activities in line with APCOM’s strategy 2014-2019 and donor agreements and contracts
- Identify and act on opportunities for the development of campaigns and advocacy messages
- Ensure efficient and effective campaign implementation and build community awareness of key campaign messages and issues during key community activities and events
- Budget responsibility over the campaign budget and work with APCOM’s finance team on the financial reporting
- Ensure the timely execution of project related work plans and monitor progress to ensure comprehensive reporting information is captured and delivered to project donors
- Liaise with relevant consultants and project implementation partners to ensure the successful implementation of the campaigns and related in-country campaign activities
- Provide regular updates and maintain communication with project donors
- Conduct campaign evaluations and capture the lessons learned from the campaigns implemented
- Coordinate with APCOM’s communications team to ensure campaign messages and materials are in line with APCOM’s branding and house style and are visible and accessible through APCOM’s communications channels, including social media and the APCOM website
- Coordinate with contractors for campaign materials (in-kind support and freebies for promotion etc.)
- Support campaign assistants with daily duties and activities
- Coordinate volunteers to support campaign community mobilisation activities and events
- Coordinate and liaise with other community organisations supporting the campaigns
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree preferably in communications or media.
- A minimum of five years of experience as a campaign coordinator, which must include the development, implementation and evaluation of campaigns
- Highly articulate individual with excellent written communication, presentation and reporting skills
- Experience of engaging with a wide range of stakeholders
- Ability to multi-task and work under pressure, with limited day-to-day support and a willingness to take on different projects and tasks as the need arises.
- Strong planning and evaluation skills, including the capacity to analyse data and interpret evaluation findings
Desirable
- Strong understanding of key issues related to the health and human rights of men who have sex with men and transgender communities within Asia and the Pacific
