Job Vacancy: International Justice Mission (IJM)
International Justice Mission (IJM) is a human rights organization that works with local authorities to help people who are victims of injustice and oppression. The agency utilizes a holistic approach to cases of injustice, by mobilizing interventions on behalf of victims, establishing aftercare for the victims, and driving maximum-impact, long term change through justice system transformation. IJM Chiang Mai has two casework focuses – citizenship rights and child sexual assault. The field office assists ethnic minority groups in Thailand by helping them attain their citizenship through legal pathways. IJM Chiang Mai is expanding its citizenship project to include focusing on training for government officials and mobilizing of hill tribe communities. The program will also use media campaigns to build public demands for justice in citizenship cases.
International Justice Mission Chiang Mai is looking for talented and driven individuals to fill the following vacant positions. These positions are based in the field office in Chiang Mai, Thailand. General Description: The System Reform Director will work closely with the IJM Thailand’s Field Office Director and other leadership to ensure the citizenship rights system reform program is successfully designed, implemented, monitored, evaluated, and reported upon. Responsibilities include: developing and executing program strategies according to goals of the program, evaluating internal and external barriers to success and ways to overcome them, designing and implementing monitoring and evaluation strategies, carrying out system reform projects, and providing leadership to the system reform team. Requirements: A Law degree or a Master’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a similar area of study, a minimum of five to ten years of legal or social service case management, proficiency in program design, monitoring, evaluation and reporting, strong written and verbal communication skills in Thai and English. Critical qualities include: professional demeanour and communication, self-starting problem solver, strong interpersonal skills, with a deep commitment to IJM’s mission.
General Description: System Reform Training Manager will develop training strategy to assist the Training Specialist in the development and use of staff training material, as well as overseeing implementation and assessing outcomes of the training. The System Reform Training Manager will identify training and developmental needs that will build loyalty to the organization and develop skills, performance, productivity and quality of work. Responsibilities include: identifying and assessing future and current training needs, forming training and development plan to address SR program needs and expectations, creating curriculum for staff training needs, conducting effective on-boarding and orientation, coordinating structured training, development of learning solutions. Requirements: A bachelor’s degree, preferably in education, human resources or a related field, 5-10 years of progressive experience working with international non-governmental organizations, experience designing and executing successful training programs, familiarity with modern training methods, fluency in written and oral English and Thai. Critical qualities include: commitment to and understanding of IJM mission, excellent leadership, interpersonal and communications skills, professional demeanour and communication, self-starting, effective planner and implementer of programs and activities, strong interpersonal communications skills, disciplined with priorities and works well under deadlines.
General Description: System Reform Training Specialist will work closely with the Training Manager to devise, implement and assess training for casework specialists in order to achieve the necessary proficiency for staff. The training specialist will also identify training and developmental needs to create training initiatives that will build loyalty to the organization and mission. Responsibilities include: Identifying and assessing future and current training needs, forming training and development plan to address needs, taking part in development of learning solutions in collaboration with training manager, executing training and monitor training activities as directed by training manager. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in education, human resources or relevant field, three to five years of experience in training, working with international non-governmental organizations or a related field, experience designing and executing successful training programs, familiarity with traditional and modern training methods, ability to plan and multi-task, fluency in oral and written communication in both English and Thai. Critical qualities include: commitment to IJM mission, professional presentation and communication, self-starter, effective planner, creative and energetic problem solver.
General Description: The System Reform Community Engagement Specialist shall, under the supervision of the System Reform Director, be responsible for spreading awareness of legal status and citizenship rights issues in Northern Thailand, especially as it relates to the system reform program. Responsibilities include: building relationships and engaging networks in the program, mobilizing community stakeholders to generate awareness of system reform program, educating community members about legal status and citizenship rights system reform and how it can assist their communities, coordinating training events, focus groups, public forums and community outreach. Requirements: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university, preferably in communications, public relations, education or a related field, three to seven years of experience in community education, relations or serve, knowledge of Thailand’s public justice system, strong communication and interpersonal skills with a wide variety of stakeholders, able to multitask and manage competing deadlines, strong written and verbal communications skills in Thai and English, ability to speak a Hill Tribe language is preferred. Critical qualities include: professional presentation in demeanor and communications, commitment to and understanding of IJM’s Mission.
General Description: The Legal Status Documentation Field (LSDP) Caseworker shall, under the direction of the System Reform Manager, be responsible for supporting the legal status documentation casework of the office by assisting eligible individuals from ethnic minority groups in obtaining Thai citizenship. The Field Operative will assist in the citizenship process through client interviews, case referrals, application review, and follow-up with government officials. Responsibilities also include building and managing relationships with government and non-government organizations, advocacy initiatives for ethnic minority groups, as well as capacity-building through educating clients and community leaders on the citizenship process. Critical qualities include: professional demeanor, team-player, as well as evident passion to help people suffering injustice and oppression.
