Local Business Engagement Officer

Position: Local Business Engagement Officer
Assignment Type: 1 year fixed-term contract with possibility extension
Location: Based in Bangkok

Job background: Plan Asia’s SEAS of Change Project is a multinational initiative between Plan Cambodia, Thailand, Sweden, Finland and Plan Asia Regional Office to address the issue related to exploitation, abuses, violations, hazadous work and limited access to social services and education faced by migrant workers and their children. The project aims at contributing to a fishing industry that is free from hazadous exploitative child labour and offer decent work opportunities for all, particularly migrant populations.The project seeks to look at the critical entry points along the fishing supply chain and develop a muti-pronged approach comprised of four strategic principles, including education participation, livelihood promotion, access to social services and corporate engagement.
Job purpose: Lead the implementation of the project’s activities in targeted Cambodian migrant communities in Rayong • Strives to ensure that all programmes are achieved the expected outcomes set in the project objective 4. • Focus on the effort to promote the principles of business and human rights to local business in the Thai fishery processing industry • Working with external consultants to provide training and coaching to local fishery processing business in Rayong on the compliance of Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI).
Qualifications, Skills & Experience: Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Economics, Social Development or any other related fields. Minimum 1-3 years of demonstrated professional experience in training facilitation. • Monitoring and evaluating development programs or projects • Proven program management skill and experience delivering donor contracted programs and /or services.• Experience in dealing with multiple donors with complex grant program • Knowledge about business and human rights principles and social compliance initiatives • Knowledge about human right issues related to Thai fishery industry and understand of child rights and child-centred community development, migrant issues and decent work opportunities • Good language skills in English (written and oral), and Thai or Cambodia (with preferred) • Ability to work in a multicultural environment • Proficient communications skills.
