Job purpose

The Child Protection Project Coordinator will work closely with the Migrant Learning Center and Education teams under Help without Frontiers Thailand Foundation (HwF-TH) to ensure that all child protection activities are designed and implemented with maximum efficiency

Activities include providing comprehensive assessment and referral services for children on the move and children in Migrant Learning Centers in need of the protection service, designing capacity building plans for the Multi-disciplinary Team (MDT), Child Protection Committee (CPC) and other relevant stakeholders on case management. The Child Protection Project Coordinator has to facilitate appropriate flow of communication between all stakeholders to ensure consistency and effectiveness of the partnership.

Duties and responsibilities 

1)     The Child Protection Project Coordinator will work closely with the Migrant Learning Center and Education team in the design and implementation of child protection activities.

2)      Provide prompt and appropriate responses to children on the move and children in migrant learning centers in need of protection services.

3)      Conduct assessment, identify protection concerns and implement appropriate plan of action for children in need of protection as well as ensure monitoring of the children’s well-being in a timely manner.

4)      Provide technical support and guidance to the migrant learning center and partners on case management and child protection services; increase capacity building initiatives as well as knowledge, skills, and confidence of teacher, care taker and / or  community leaders responsible for children safety and welfare.

5)      Design and Facilitate trainings on child protection, child safeguarding policy in MLCs, case management and appropriate referrals for multi-disciplinary teams, local authority representatives, parents, caregivers and other stakeholders.

6)      Support the project’s partners in conducting awareness raising campaigns, disseminating information on child protection, and the prevention of exploitation and abuse.

7)      Participate in case management meetings and case conferences with the multi-disciplinary team and prepare case reports, and victim’s need assessment to support case management as necessary.

8)   Take actions on other cases handled/referred to HWF when requested.

9)   Contribute, as requested by the Director, HWF Thailand on the development of project proposals and work plans; the objectives, advocacy strategy and annual budget to ensure that it aligns with effective project implementation. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or other relevant education foundation
  • ·         Ability to speak, listen, read, and write at a professional level in two languages: Thai, Burmese (ability to communicate in English a plus).
  • Demonstrate understanding in child rights, child protection issues and case management
  • At least 2 years’ experience in child protection; including case writing, reporting and monitoring processes
  • Experience of leading training, coaching, and other approaches to capacity building
  • Ability to work in partnership with different stakeholders, including Thai government offices
  • Ability to work under pressure and in multi-cultural settings
  • Immediate availability (by 1 April 2017) and commitment to be engaged until end-December 2017
  • Willingness to be based in the field (Mae Sot)
