Role Overview: |
The Head of Asia Partnerships is responsible for leading the growth of the Asia High Value Hub to raise significant funds for ActionAid’s work in Asia from high-value sources in new markets in the Asia-Pacific region, (outside of ActionAid International’s established fundraising or programmatic territories within the region). This role will build on progress made to date expanding the successful fundraising programme to strengthen its sustainability and increase income to ActionAid’s work across Asia.
Responsible for the overall strategic and operational management of the Asia High Value Hub team to access and develop high value income opportunities (from trusts and foundations, companies and individual major donors) in Singapore and Hong Kong, with a target of raising over £1 million by the end of 2019. This role will also scope high value fundraising opportunities in other new markets including South Korea, Japan, Taiwan and Malaysia.
Working closely with countries in the Asia cluster and senior leadership, this role is responsible for personally managing a portfolio of, and securing substantial donations/grants from key high value sources; proactively raising ActionAid’s profile in identified markets; and building internal and external leadership support for high value fundraising in the region to support growth.

Strategic Leadership of the Asia Hub programme |
Lead the development and growth of the Asia High Value Fundraising Hub, enabling ActionAid to grow high value income globally, by reaching new markets and innovative sources of funds to ensure long-term income growth. This includes:
· Develop and implement a strategy for sustainable income growth in the Asia-Pacific region in line with organisational priorities · Oversee the development and implementation of a prospecting strategy to identify the very highest level prospects, focusing on a small portfolio of high value prospects with the ability to support at a six figure level and above · Building internal leadership and buy-in for high value fundraising in Asia, working closely with senior staff and champions, including the Chief Executive, Directors and relevant board members · Developing ActionAid’s networks at a senior level in the philanthropy and business sectors, in order to increase the profile of ActionAid’s work and to facilitate relationships with new high level supporters and influencers in the region. · Representing ActionAid at key external forums and events in the region in order to raise the profile of ActionAid’s work · Play a key role in delivering ActionAid’s global high value fundraising strategy · Setting up systems and processes, developing and implementing a successful high value fundraising strategy · Representing the Fundraising unit at relevant cross-organisational working groups · Work closely with the Head of Principal Giving to support the global strategy of raising funds from ultra-high net worth individuals Work closely with the Head of Major Gifts and Head of Trust Partnerships to share networks and learning in high value fundraising |

Personally raising income through effective relationship management of a portfolio of international donors |
· Personally build and manage a portfolio of the highest level donors and prospects and solicit substantial gifts/grants for ActionAid’s work with a focus on six-figure, multiple annual donations for organisational funding priorities · Engage senior staff and board members across ActionAid to secure their involvement in donor identification, cultivation and stewardship · Oversee and ensure timely and effective donor reporting and stewardship · Planning and delivering a range of market specific cultivation activities to engage donors and prospects · Lead on the development of cases for support and other fundraising products for high value donors · Work closely with relevant high value fundraising colleagues in the UK and across the federation to coordinate on approaches to high value donors in order to maximise relationships and returns for ActionAid

Provision of technical and legal advice to maximise fundraising performance |
· Ensure ActionAid’s aims and objectives are met, guidelines adhered to and that new high value partnerships align with ActionAid’s principles, including the corporate engagement framework · Liaise and communicate effectively with all ActionAid staff, clients, donors, agencies and other charities as appropriate · Develop networks and keep up to date with philanthropy and fundraising trends and best practice in high value fundraising globally and in the region. Share and communicate trends, intelligence and opportunities with relevant fundraising and country office colleagues · Develop an understanding of legislation relating to high value fundraising in the given markets and adhere to these at all times · Oversee the delivery of a robust and dynamic pipeline of prospects, while analysing key donor insights on how to approach and develop new business opportunities · Ensure that prospect and donor research and records are maintained and comply with data protection guidelines and agreed best practice |

Organisational planning, reporting and performance management for effective high value fundraising |
· Monitor and ensure delivery of income targets for the Asia Fundraising Hub · Develop and assess delivery against agreed KPIs and provide regular performance reporting in line with organisational processes · As appropriate, track and report on expenditure throughout the year to allow accurate centralised budget management · Ensure timely input to organisational processes E.g. completing Asia Hub annual plans and budgets, long-term fundraising strategies, activity reporting and income and expenditure monitoring to enable return on investment analysis · Ensure the continuous improvement of Asia Hub systems and processes to improve management and reporting processes (e.g. finance and CRM systems) · Input into the development of and ensure adherence to global systems, policies and processes e.g. Cross-border fundraising; Corporate Engagement; Contract Management. · Oversight of all grant management issues across the Asia Hub. |

Knowledge of Cantonese, Singaporean Mandarin or other spoken languages in key identified markets would be an advantage.
The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge and understanding of the philanthropy sector and best practice, particularly corporate social responsibility (CSR) issues and practice. Strong leadership and team management skills are also key.
