Background/IRC Summary: The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises, helping to restore health, safety, education, economic wellbeing, and power to people devastated by conflict and disaster. Founded in 1933 at the call of Albert Einstein, the IRC is at work in over 40 countries and 26 U.S. cities helping people to survive, reclaim control of their future and strengthen their communities. The IRC has been operating in Thailand since 1975 and currently provides assistance to displaced persons in Tak, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi and Mae Hong Son provinces.
Job Overview/Summary: The driver is assigned to drive for IRC programs in Sangkhlaburi District, Kanchanaburi (mainly Ban Ton Yang Temporary shelter for displaced persons), however she/he is entitle to drive outside the assigned area under IRC programs
- Responsible of the security for the person and materials in the car up to destination
- Respect of the Thai traffic rules, the safety orders, the travel schedules and IRC policies
- Follows the services of the cars and report all incident and information to Operation Officer and/or Field coordinator
- Ensure efficient driving and maintenance of IRC vehicle in compliance with IRC rules and regulations
- Ensure the efficient condition and readiness for use of vehicle as well as its maintenance on daily basis in compliance with IRC Thailand’s procedure
- Enact safe driving practices at all times for all IRC Staff and visitors
Major Responsibilities:
Vehicle operation:
- Serve as a driver for IRC staff and visitors in a timely manner, in strict adherence to traffic rules and safe driving practices
- Perform regular vehicle checks according to IRC Thailand’s procedure
- Keep vehicle clean and check vehicle’s condition every time before and after each journey
- Ensure all vehicle documentation, camp passes etc., are in vehicle before each journey
- Complete vehicle log sheets after each journey
- To take care of vehicle’s using license annually
- To transport documents, materials or other items to appropriate destinations as requested by supervisor.
- Assist with minor repairs to vehicles and/or IRC office as required
- Drive vehicles to transfer patients to Hospital, Patient House or other location as assigned
- Stand by to pick or drop patients in an emergency situation
- Assist the expatriate staffs with translation when requested (especially at the check point, hospital, with the patient)
- To perform other duties as assigned
Assist Health and WPE officer:
- Purchases small supplies when requested
- Supporting staffs to the Bank or deposit / withdrawal/ transfers money when requested.
- Can be the messenger (MOI document/ IRC business letter)
Job Requirements:
- At least certificate of Primary education (M.3) with official driving license
- At least 3 years experience in off road driving
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Good knowledge of vehicle maintenance
